Irving was heavily impacted by yesterday’s layoffs. Each team lost at least two team members.
The network side was particularly affected — including NSS, ECC, Load Balancing, DNS, Tools Team. These are core operational functions!
Each Data Center team (RUTH, GTDC, MWDC, SWDC, and 390G) also lost two team members. These teams were already lean. With this level of reduction, the remaining staff will be operating under sustained pressure, and workload sustainability is a legitimate concern.
Based on your analyses, even if Banamex is fully jettisoned this year, 2026, there's still 20,000 employees remaining who need to be jettisoned so that Citi can arrive at its target goal of 180,000 employees worldwide by 2027.
So then let's assume it's 20,000 divided by 2 years, for each year 2026 and 2027. Citi has thus far laidoff about 3,000 employees worldwide. This means 7,000 more to go for the remainder of year 2026.
Take note that ALL Layoffs happen Mid-Month around the 15th.
I got Laidoff Feb. 17 the day after a U.S. National holiday.
I witnessed former colleagues get laidoff since 2022 with the following patterns ALWAYS mid-month:

In Tech, I personally know some employees were offered the choice of relocating to a low cost location and pay their own moving expenses OR accept a Lower Title Rank such as: Director To SVP, SVP To VP etc..
Most took the latter option.
How does Sh!ttybank benefit from this ??
The first option is obvious.
With the 2nd option, the lower Title Rank means lower % Salary increases and lower % Bonuses because Salaries and Bonuses are based on Bands and parameters.

I am sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately you are the perfect Citi employee. The preferred employee type falls into two categories:
a.) an employee who is elated at being here
b.) an employee who’s chained to the company out of desperation of need.
You are “b”. Much like blood in the water for sharks, if your desperation is sensed, you’ll be a whipping post for extra extra extra work, long hours, projects no one wants, blame etc… The consensus is that you’ll put up with it and make no noise about it after all you NEED to work here.
In other words, I can assure you, your fear, anxiety and desperation will be used against you.
@a2 i am from Irving. Yes it’s true, 1-4 riffed from a team of around 9-12. Tuesday, Wednesday they were told. By Thursday the floor was eerily quiet and now there’s much flexseats that’s working to choose from. In my team 2 colleagues cut and they were told why remotely working on Tuesday. We never got to say goodbye. 1 has been here for 25 years whose spouse is battling a terminal disease and dependent on insurance via Citi employment. It’s very anxiety inducing to all of us.
Citi currently has approximately 240,000 employees worldwide. The Banamex sale / IPO is Not yet complete. This sale will jettison 30,000 to 40,000 employees.
Back in the years 2022 / 2023, Citi said its target resting state is 180,000 employees. And so even if Banamex was completely divested in the year 2026, that still leaves about 20,000 bodies at risk of being Laidoff between now and 2027.
Make NO mistake. We're just Faceless, Nameless Bodies or Chattel to be discarded by Citi, CEO Jane Fraser, CTO TR and his Brain-De@d One Eyed King in the Land of the Blind Leading the Blind carbon-copy AN, and the "Managers" !!!

What your describing is far from a bloodbath (indeed no blood was spilled) sound like a couple of hundred spread across NA. Let’s not be hyperbolic while acknowledging many were impacted and extend our sympathies to them. That said this will continue so if you can get out. I waited for a RiF in Jan didn’t get hit and retired. Was sick of the sword of Damocles hanging over my head and didn’t need to deal with it any more.

@OP sadly, can confirm. all across NY/NJ/DE/TX and FL. some individuals with as far as 24, 26, 45 years in the firm. some teams losing up to 4-5 ppl at once. from yesterday and into tomorrow. Good luck to everybody affected.

I WAS in TECH New York City and it was literally a Zoom meeting out of the blue from my "Manager" who rarely if ever contacts me. If or when he does, I always know it's Not good news or it's about additional workload. He literally forced the Zoom meeting by inviting me to his Zoom while I was on another Zoom call. So I knew MY NUMBER WAS UP !
Access to Citi Network was cut off 30 MINUTES AFTER THE R3TARD CRET!N hung up the Zoom call. Around 7:00pm Eastern Time I received a WARN Notice email in my personal email / gmail. So this means Citi filed a WARN Notice with New York State Department of Labor for 388 Greenwich Street New York City (minimum WARN Notice trigger is 100 employees, but most likely laidoff more that this).
