Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I like it here!

I don't get it. I like it here! It's a friendly group of people I work with, and good benefits.

Take the offer if you have nothing better and like the people you met. Everyone complaining here did as well at some point. Many of the negative points made and direction we are going are not unique to BNY unfortunately. Make your time productive and go in eyes open.

If you like it here you are likely female, attractive, it’s one of your first jobs and you work for males.

It is possible for both of these statements to be true:

1) BNY as a workplace is going through enshittification, with people being unfairly laid off, jobs moving abroad, clueless leadership, and and a bewildering focus on "AI"

2) OP could have lucked into a great team with friendly people, cool work, good work/life balance, AND insulated from the enshittification that we complain about

@ac, take the job. If during your onboarding to bny you get slightly better offer, kiss bny good bye. Don’t stop looking. All interviews are virtual now. Don’t forget to add time slots to your calendar to prevent others from interfering with your interviews

@ba even better because they rate you below expectations they can and will lay you off with cause meaning they don't have to give you the severance you earned after working for them over 30 years. that has happened to many people i know and just happend to me. i'm waiting for the hammer to come down

Lol give it 3 months you’ll realize how awful this place is. The work su-ks, People laid off left and right, managers want you to take on more work. Even as an analyst I realized early on this place su-ks and I can’t wait to leave after a year.

You are in the wrong forum. This should be in the Disney Cruise Layoff forum.

OP just wait until you get told at the end of the year your work was below expectations, despite no concerns being raised during the year. Then you get no payrise or bonis, maybe put on PIP. Meanwhile your coworker, who was difficult to work with, gets promoted based on projects you did most of the work on.
