Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Those with medical accommodations...

What is it? This is all anonymous so this isn't anything to expose you. I have seen people with very serious and legitimate ones get denied. I'm confused about what actually gets approved and how??

@a6 You will likely be a target for a layoff or a productivity review. They are not keen to “flourescent lighting” for migraines. There are a large percentage of people with real migraines and lighting being an issue. They are not giving everyone accommodations and the ones with an approval are on “the list” and whether your manger says so or not you will be reviewed again in 6 months or less or gone

@cb - I have chronic migraine and I can assure you the bright lights and noxious odors are 100% a trigger. If you've never had a migraine, try this so you can understand what we go thru.
Take an axepick and shove it thru one of your eyeballs and leave it there for a few days. Throw in severe nausea and the mirad of other things that go along with it. A migraine is not just a headache, its a neurological event and is not for p&ssies. For my part, I am not some whiney b*tch who just wants to work the system. I'd go into an office every single day for 12 hours a day for the rest of my life if it meant I'd never have another one...I'd give up a limb and a lot more, too.
I had a fully remote acommodation then in 2024 they wanted me back in the office for 3 days a week, to which I happily complied. They didn't offer any sort of workplace changes, so I didn't stay under the lights too long. About 3-4 hours a day was all I could tolerate. Then they displaced me.
I know there are a lot of je-ks who abuse the system and ruin it for people who truly need them. But yeah, fluorescent lights are nasty for migrainers.

The problem for those with legitimate medical issues is the l-wlifes who will pretend bright lights, or loud noises are some kind of thing in order to get a fake accommodation. Just like having to work 8hrs in office, blame your trash coworkers not the company.

They do provide accommodations. Are you asking about WFH accommodations? They're doing everything they can to provide accommodations in the office. Some of them are quite questionable though like strong smells, dim lighting, distractions, low traffic. It su-ks because there are real people out there with real medical situations. People are just making up stuff and finding doctors to sign something

@aa Your post exemplifies why exemptions are being abused and have to be eliminated.

You state, in the same breath, you have severe insomnia yet no diagnosis. Doesn’t even make sense as insomnia IS a diagnosis in and unto itself. Got your PhD from WebMD I see.

Then you attempt to define WFH as benefitting both sides because “your productivity doesn’t get going until around noon.” Wtf does wfh have to do with you not being able to Adult? So you’re a terrible employee 8-noon when you go to work. And you’ll still be a terrible employee at home from 8 to noon, just more comfy in your pajamas? Definitely sounds like a win for an employer.

Instead of working with your manager to adjust what is considered your “normal working hours” your solution is to be granted work from home so you only have to work half a day. FFS the world is doomed.

I have anxiety around people and they couldn’t guarantee me an office so I was able to to receive WFH accommodation.

I wish I could get it. Severe insomnia but no diagnosed sleep disorder. My productivity doesnt get going until around noon. It would really benefit me AND the company if I could be remote.

I had a MA and it was reviewed a few months ago for legitimate medical issues and it was denied and they created a short plan to come back into office which I didn’t mind. I will tell you that MetLife third party vendor will now take over to review all MA in 2026. And the department within WF that are currently review those MA will be gone by EOY.
