Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Internal move in the mist of layoffs

I got an offer to internally transfer from OCI to the DB org, should I take it? Or just wait for the head chopping while preparing for the outside world?

My contacts in db org report there have been several ex-db moved to oci who are being recalled to the db org. If it was me and the db side of the house was familiar folks I’d go back.

If another org is hiring, that's a good sign....I'd take it (especially now that it's planning season for next fiscal year).

My manager told me today that OCI will be on the chopping block with that 30k layoff rumor.
So yeah, move.

Yes that is where making most of money plus a new role at this point may have fewer chance to get impacted for some time

Ooh boy, what a cr-p shoot! O has culled a LOT from OCI and no idea if they're done there. No clue about what they plan to do with DB group. As someone else said, your salary band can and probably will put a target on you. For all we know they just have a dart board with various groups/roles/salary/cut of your jib and might just be doing it randomly.

I don't know if anyone can really advise you - I would hate to advise you to make the move - or stay - only to see you let go when you otherwise might have been saved.

I just know OCI wasn't safe at least last August and September. Maybe they've cut everything they're going to cut there, who knows?
