I am thinking owner brand Technical Developers/ Engineers due to vendors being able to handle most of the tech packs and approvals on our behalf. And then probably Sourcing since there's close to business, close to vendor, they can probably give more ownership overseas. Maybe even designers as we lean again on the vendors for co- development. Some products are already not touched at all by HQ, all design and approvals done by vendor.

Does anyone think Insights teams will be affected? There is likely overlap work and bloat with Enterprise Insights, Enterprise Segmentation, OB Product Insights, work Brand Managers do, Voice of Guest Team etc. all under Rick. Thoughts?

Bad manager, good manager. Remote vs Onsite. Strategic direction vs other folks are doing it. You will never know why. Dont waste time looking for an answer. Know that few good people who were mowing lawn during peak business hours will be gone. And few will stay although they were doing it too while not working. Opportunists will take advantage of this chaos and throw some under the bus. It does not matter why opportunists themselves are not shown the door. Recommend to keep the 401k contributions going. Mow your lawn. Try to live a normal life. Sorry for the first timers. For those who had dealt with this nonsense before, you know what to do. I did and do. Good luck.

I can only imagine more to come. Look in the mirror, if you have toddlers and no daycare, I got news, you aren't working. If you are mowing your lawn, walking dogs around the lakes, you aren't working. You may think you are, but reality is going to hit.

Say to yourself "would I pay somebody this kind of money if it were my own".

You aren't the important cog in the wheel you think you are.

Work is called work for a reason!

I would say the ones they can eliminate are VMD, FBD, FBC, and possibly Senior Directors

Red flags:

  1. Your team has India support. Most likely some of that work will be sent to India. Especially if you have a large percentage of TMs that are from India. They can hire 3 of them for 1 of you.

  2. Based on the email you don’t contribute to their “new” vision. Meaning you’re not doing anything to help move forward with tech or the customer experience.

  3. There are too many leads in your team.

  4. You notice a lot of redundancy around your work. Meaning, you don’t know that other teams are working on the same thing. This is very common in Data Science and Analytics.

  5. You work in Communications, Marketing, and sustainability.

  6. All your team is in HQ and you’re remote. That doesn’t mean all remote roles. Only if you’re 1 remote member out of the overall team.

  7. You’ve been let go in the previous layoffs and were “strategically” placed in another team.

@af the truth is there are some terrible managers that need to be fired, but they won’t. Next week will be painful either way, you may leave or may see someone you know leaving. I’ll take the advice of some of the comments here. No matter how much your manager su-ks or how terrible he/she/they/cat/whatever lol just be kind to those around you. Even if your boss su-ks they probably have a terrible life at home, so they bring it to work. You never know what is in someone’s heart. Be kind like Ellen lol and please stop sending k-pop demon hunter comments on the slack channel!

The email was super clear. Remote jobs will be okay, Target supports a hybrid culture. Focus on what the email says, if you haven’t don’t anything within your role to advance what the new focus is on then maybe worry otherwise you’re ok. Guest experiences, technology, and bloated teams (redundancy) and like the other note says pompous bosses who do nothing and add no value. Marketing, communication, and all those boated teams might suffer (sadly). This is all very sad, especially with the economy being so hard right now but keep your head up. Stop all contributions to your 401k, save as much as you can and make sure you’re on top of your resume.

Pompous Managers that have been in their roles for years, have pushed politics over quality and most certainly low performers. Watch and see. Good luck’
