Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

@ev agreed and MF was still investing in the products. OT just squeezes them dry. What good is used up software and IP and how can it be worth having? And our customer base isn’t great either. Sure there are some pieces of value but a lot will just be sunset.

@ab
Due respect, IMHO, MFI was not in the same boat.
OT made an offer 2 years prior and MFI rejected it. There also were other suitors.
OT revised their offer and ultimately overpaid. This was due to OT's complete lack of adequate due diligence.
Additionally on Legal close OT still did not have a cohesive integration plan or decision on what businesses they should jettison. On Legal Day 1, they cut all of the Sr. leadership before their was any knowledge transfer or a complete assessment of the infrastructure/processes that support an Enterprise business environment (Before MFI, OT was not an Enterprise business).
The common denominator of gross incompetence and stupidity here is Mark B and the OT Board.
This is why OT finds itself in the desperate situation it is in currently. Conversely MFI got its shareholders a decent price. They were not desperate they waited for the right price and OT paid it. The rest as they say is history (OT History)

Probably Rocket Software for SMBC, for a bargain basement price though, it's a struggling business, due to lack of investment by OT for 6 yrs

OppenText is an old school dinosaur that needs to die. Most of the proeudtcts are far behind the market offerings. It's former leaders didn't really know how to grow and manage products and relied on M&A to grow the business. This is the only exact same strategy that old lame boomers resorted to - acquisitions - think Cisco, IBM, HP.

First off, that old fa-t board chair needs to retire. Secondly, they need chase away any politicians in the organisation defending their fieddoms. Thirdly, there's so much hierarchy that the leaders don't know what other parts of the org are doing

You might have noticed, but not a great time in the geopolitical context for significant M&A activity. Not expecting much to happen anytime soon.

@aa the deals are not done and may fall through. Buyers know we are desperate. MicroFocus was in the same boat until Mark B came along. But we can’t find a greater fool.
