Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

August 26th (no work day, sick out)

They have already made these decisions. It doesn’t matter what we do but we can show them how powerful they are if we just don’t show up to Work on the 26th. No call, no text. Just let them know it was a family emergency the next day. Who’s in to show our solidarity with our coworkers? We are the real Edward Jones!

Nah, don’t waste a sick day on this. It’s too late to make a point this way. What everyone should have been doing all along was refusing to train the off shore contractors.

@aa agreed. We're too nice and let incompetent people stick around. I work with the worst leader I've ever known in my entire adult life (my peer, thankfully I do not report to them). They have always been bad, but have been at EJ for years. The constant leadership rotation helps hide deficiencies.

@OP I wouldn’t waste a sick day. They are giving you the day off more or less with no meetings except maybe one with your GP who will then tell you that you can have the rest of the day off. Use sick time wisely.

I’ve been at EJ for 10yrs and the culture today is nothing like it was when I started. It’s gone downhill. But I do agree I know more than a handful of ppl who should go especially the ones who say but we’ve always done it that way why change it….

Are you an adult? Let us know how that works out. This isn't college where that might have worked but less risk and dad's money

Literally nobody. Take your licks like every other corporation. EJ let itself get bloated and now they are right sizing. I’m sure there is a ton of dead weight to cut. I know about 10 people there that I’ve worked with that were very average at best employees.
