Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

For those who were notified their jobs were moving to another hub

How were you notified?

What level notified you? AD, Director, AVP, VP?

How was it done? Was a MS Teams meeting sent? Town hall?

If it was done via a MS Teams meeting, did it have a title to the meeting?

How long did you have to provide a response?

Email, two weeks to respond and if declined or no response would be surplused at a later date TBD by business unit. Then no communication on date until I got my official surplus letter 3 months later with two week warning,

I received mine via smoke signals. Given how proficient the C suite is at “bl0wing smoke”, I thought it somewhat fitting.

Mine was delivered by carrier pigeon as well. My eagle ate the pigeon. I have photos. Eagle wants me to ask HR to resend.

T can’t afford relo.

They are, in fact, paying relocation for some people. Moving expenses, real estate help, with option that company will buy home if it doesn't sell.

offer letter

I'd personally only consider it an offer letter if it included relocation money, which only some have seem to have gotten.

Notification went out in the spring of 2023 when Stankey announced office consolidations. Job relocation has been known to be coming for over two years now.

My boss called me and said an offer letter (for the same role, but sitting in Dallas) was going to be emailed to me. After a long uncomfortable wait, in appeared in my inbox. The letter was simply an offer. It gave me an option to accept. If I took no action, it advised me of the risk of job elimination.

If you do not plan on moving, do not respond. A non-response will be taken as a refusal to relocate which you don’t plan to do anyway. By not responding you are effectively denying them of evidentiary evidence of self termination. They know this. Without a positive response indicating relocation or self-termination, they will send a follow up email notifying you that your role is no longer needed. Keep this email. This is your settlement email for wrongful termination, especially if you are a protected class.

I just got an email. It said I had two weeks to respond via a cr-ppy Sharepoint form. No response would be taken as a refusal to relocate. My boss got the same email at the same time.
