Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

It isn't DEI based. I had coworker stating how lgbtq people are groomers at the office and after kids and was part of the DEI resource groups. Mention the issues and how it should at least be a topic covered in corporate training. It was ignored and then part of the layoffs

If anything NetApp doesn't really care about DEI it's just whatever is for profitability and for global metrics having that looks good for the countries that has it. While in reality it doesn't matter at all when people are harassed by coworkers it is just ignored and the person speaking up about it is then put on the chopping block

20+ years at NetApp came to end on Tuesday. No rhyme or reason. Just cutting perceived fat to make shareholders happy. Not going to help getting to that 10b target.. Perhaps a CEO change..

@ah not all CSMs are gone. I’ve been in contact with some that had minimal cuts to their respective teams

All the CSM‘s in all of the teams, including management were laid off on one call today. It had nothing to do with performance. Literally, every single person in the entire org including management is gone.

@OP I'm one who was negatively impacted by the layoffs. Enginneer survived 13 yrs of layoffs and get notified less than one hour into shift. Several other mgrs/Support Account Managers/Engineers impacted. NetApp layoffs come at quarter end to try to inflat their numbers

Only getting vague answers right now since APAC/EMEA/India haven't been notified yet. Supposedly my manager will give us a concrete number tomorrow morning US team once all notifications are verified, but I'm hearing at least 500 notified so far.

@ab That’s not really how it works. Top performers also are laid off if they don’t meet DEI metrics.

@a9 It's nicknamed rank and yank for a reason. Bottom 10% are gone.

What I overheard is 600 for Americas, and more to come in APAC, India, and EMEA. If you are left untouched EOD today in US, you are safe till next time.

Wonder how they determine the list. Was in needs improvement category for last review fy25 so wondering if that was main reason.

At least 150, but there are more still coming in.

Just about every one so far from what I'm seeing is US-based. Expect more in other locales tonight and tomorrow.
