It crosses my mind daily which I know is not healthy. I try not to think about it and focus on my job but I find it impossible to keep the thoughts and fear entering my thoughts.

If you are seeing a srink or taking anti anxiety meds you are on top of my RIF list.
I don't need these weaklings on my team.
If you're thinking your medical care isn't my business.... most of my employees outright tell me in casual conversation. If they don't, there are ways I can find out.
@av always keep your vacation maxed. It’s a nice payout on top of getting the package
My whole 25 year career I have conducted my outside life with the understanding that I could be laid off any time. So when I want to buy something, when I want to make a commitment, when my spouse thinks about making a change I always ask what happens if I get laid off.
It's the nature of teh industry and in my opinion you are fool if you don't think like this. But, importantly, that doesn't mean you live in panic, or engage in all the whispers and rumor mongering. That's a miserable way to live, and frankly it's too distracting and effects performance. Ironically making you MORE likely to be cut
Why stress and not do anything about it? If I were still there, I would 100% start applying. The job market is ROUGH!
Never, I plan on being, so I am prepared.
I think about it EVERYDAY. This is why I’m saving my vacation this year just in case to have a extra paycheck
Anxiety meds work wonders folks
@OP One strategy I've employed is to act like I'm already RIF'd. Updating & modernizing the CV and seeking out interview opportunities for jobs that look appealing...... hoping to land some interviews just for the sake of practicing. Using AI to create likely questions I'll face be asked, given the job description and my CV history. If when I get my first interview I'm asked "why do you want to work here?" I'll probably say "I don't know yet that I do.... you're interviewing me, I'm interviewing you!".... this way I'm already operating in worse case scenario mode so I've gotten ahead of any potential RIF. this is what works for me at least. Best wishes all!!!!
@a8 Absolutely the right things to be doing. Thanks for sharing.
The key to abating the fear is to be prepared for an eventual layoff, whether it happens or not. Keep your resume up to date. Keep your skills up to date. Have a 6-12 month emergency fund. Figure out how you will cover your medical care after your severance period is over if you haven't yet found another job. Honestly, in today's corporate environment, everyone should be ready when it happens. Being prepared is how to stop stressing about it on the daily.
@OP Super unhealthy, but I’m in the same boat and it’s impacting me at work and at home. What I’ve been doing to cope is utilizing EAP and talking about it with my primary doctor
@OP There are signs..just be mindful and observant. For me, the manager gave me less work even it was obviousky my responsibility. Change how your manager manages you.
the CFO is going to go next and be laid off just like Sampath. the Board is not liking the performance of the CFOs teams, especially his direct reports.
Everyday. I’m stressed but my boss told me my job is at risk and I’m still waiting I had no sign or anything yet from anyone. I’m starting to believe that all these bosses are worried about their own job too they don’t know what’s going on. Know one does. Just all BS rumours so far.
