Rumor there's been recent layoffs effective immediately....anyone know anything or been impacted?

Work in tech led, recent layoff of a colleague happened today and rumors of a few more but not definitive evidence of that yet.
It's so evident that they don't care. We are simply a number. So if I will be treated as a number - they will get just a number level of work..not my problem anymore. If they can't be concerned, than neither can I.
@jj they don't understand because layoffs aren't something they've ever had to fear. They don't understand what it's like to worry about being able to afford groceries. They have no tangible understanding of the financial impact of a layoff, especially when severance isn't a guarantee.
They could understand if they actually listened. But they're too busy having their feathers ruffled because people dare criticize their leadership. So, they blame us instead of their cr-ppy strategies.
I don’t think they care about morale and certainly don’t understand.
They think we aren’t affected seeing our long time co workers get laid off
We are thinking, we are next. Co workers that were laid off were much better performers than I am.
CEO is thinking, you are lucky I gave you a job and feed your little family, pleasant.
Go make some friends
I'm so disappointed by how some of these decisions were made. From the outside it makes 0 sense and many departments had just gotten their bearings after a heavy reorg last year.
I dont think any company understands the morale hit that layoffs have.
