Albany is only shell company for small group of top people who use it for own benefit. They push their titles higher, increase salaries, and try to build reputation in artificial way, not real achievement. But rest of industry can see clearly they are not same level like serious and legitimate companies.

Albany is like hamster wheel for others: always moving, spinning fast, making noise, but in reality going nowhere and achieving nothing.

You can use the group life insurance form, or the long term disability form. Both give you almost identical numbers

It's actually closer to 50% because of acquisitions. IBM adds a lot of of new employees to its US books and then lays them off too. They usually get 3 to 5 years before that happens but it always happens.

These aren't new hires - so it's not like IBM is replenishing those it's laid off - they are employees through acquisitions that are later liquidated as well.

@F6. In 2022 IBM had 54,151 USA employees (IRS 5500 form). In 2024 IBM had 50,667 USA employees. (Again irs 5500 form). Given that IBM took a 700 million dollar restructuring charge in 2025, and if we apply that completely to IBM USA we can account for approx 7k worth of heads (1 billion = 10k), which gets us to approx 44k. I’m certainly not wishing for the worst, but 50% of 2022’s total (eg 27k) is most likely IBM’s goal and not actual numbers. As such expect several more rounds of IBM NA legacy RA’s as time goes by. IBM is easily capable of two more rounds of 2025 like RA’s, Will they do it? Most likely yes as reducing legacy costs are job 1, and offshoring legacy talent is the go to play. IBM could also spinoff everything not related to mainframe and accomplish their USA headcount objectives. Don’t be surprised if a 2026 spinoff gets announced instead of RA’s

Since 2022, IBM has laid off 50% of its US workforce. Just 3 years.

Honestly, that's all you need to know. Fu-k Arvind. Fu-k IBM.

@bg fu-k Albany. It’s a long con job of a site. A scam. They never do anything of worth. They are just copying tech that is 5-8 years old and doing it poorly. They could literally vanish from the face of the earth and no one would notice except Armonk because the gigantic money pit that never generates any revenue is off their books.

@a7 Spot on comments. The comment about excitement reminded me of this guy who used to work at IBM. He was asked to evaluate some software product they'd cobbled together, and he gave it a bad review because it produced wrong results. Demonstrably wrong results. But management didn't care. This was about being positive and generating excitement. Anyway, he got in trouble for his evaluation and was RAed shortly afterward. Super smart guy too.

IBM remains SUPER WOKE and clutches tightly all the DEI nonsense and virtue signalling and recruits, hires and promotes based on how you look (s-x, race, skin color, age etc) and not for skills or track record. Look at every IBM ad online whether it is for a job (now all of them scream WE WANT EM YOUNG AND ENTRY SO WE PAY THEM PEANUTS) and you just do not see "middle age or older white guys" or a marketing ad (does anyone have marketing worse than IBM?). IBM no longer SELLS or MAKES ANYTHING. They are just a collection of commodity software companies they have bought over the last 30 years and they want customers to buy and download and run everything from primarily AWS cloud since the IBM cloud (bought SoftLayer for $1.5B in 2013) is so pathetic and has 2% market share. Therefore you just need em young to look good in ads and take a customer out once in awhile. Look at all the IBM people on LinkedIn etc and all you see are selfie after selfie and at a table with IBM other IBM people eating expensive food after an internal meeting "where there was lots of excitement oh boy!) with not a customer anywhere in sight.
