When did just barely good enough become our goal? We used to demand the best. Being part of ExxonMobil was something to be proud of. No longer. Now we just settle for good enough. The trouble is good enough is really embarrassingly poorly done.

@ae “Evinces” not “evidences.”
As someone who edits specifications for a living, you ought to have better command of your native language…especially since you’re constantly whining about people in India “being bad at English.”
You want to keep this going or quit while you’re ahead?
@ae Touched a nerve did I?
Come on, y all! Who needs "functional excellence" when most (note NOT all) work XOM professionals do is to support producing commodities.
Excon is a shell of what it used to be. It is now a stepping stone to better jobs. Long gone are the days of a career and a retirement. Now it is only a game that's fixed. We are only contractors with a year to year employment. Every July it is piping season and some will lose while others win. Eventually we all get piped some early others older. My time is comming soon I feel it.
@a7… grow up, you sound immature and the utter simplicity of your language evidences your mediocrity. Your offense to comments referencing better times is obvious and to assume poster must be retirement age demonstrates shallow thinking and very poor logic.
@a2 At least they know what they are. You clowns all think that editing overlay specs makes you indispensable technical experts worth $500k/year.
@OP Maybe you were always mediocre and didn’t realize it.
Instead of lamenting for some lost golden age…retire. You’ll probably be happier.
Annuitants would be shocked if they saw what is accepted as adequate work these days.
