Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Exception to RTO

Things I learned today. We have 3 employees with a FTO designation. Never once been to the office in the 19 months since it was mandated for us. They say the RTO mandate was never intended for them. Their lives have been more difficult and they've faced more challenges than the rest of us. It gets better. They are part of some loose knit group who conveniently believe minority women cannot be their best unless they work from home. It's important for their children to see them as they set the standard for their coworkers. I have questions, but the most pressing is, how is it I get warned twice about a 15 minute blip on the presence report, and this concerted effort to thwart RTO exists for 19 months? Make me understand.

Irony is a company with no integrity being upset because their employees have no integrity.

Here's how its done where I work. The how/where report only indicates if you spent 8 hours in A office. It doesn't care which office. Any will satisfy the report. So you just keeping working from your local CO even after they update your address in phone. Ask me how I know.

We have 2 FTO's who never come to the office. They do have the longest commutes. No one has ever mentioned it, so more power to them. I think caring about presence requirements is over for several Orgs given the lack of preparation and planning by the company before making RTO mandatory. Leadership in my Org is not thrilled with having to enforce 5 day RTO when other Orgs are required to be in office only 2-3 days. Not enough emphasis on getting work goals accomplished.

Don't belive the hype. Never have I witnessed a minority women get 1 inch more at T. Whatever they get, they had to sacrifise, neglect and use blinders- It's not true. Don't upset yoirself.

Not a fan of RTO because the increased collaboration justification is a lie. We have one who refuses to come to the office, but only gets warnings. Nothing is done about it. Rinse and repeat. The downside is the rest of the team lost what little flexibility we had. Our manager explains that it draws too much attention to the team. Why are they so willing to punish some but not others?

Boo hoo hoo. I have to go to work. Wah wah wah. OP is a crybaby.

Focus on your own failures. And then maybe, in time you'll prove to be successful competent and worthy of a WFH role.

OP is looking at this wrong... the challenging situations are only handed to the ones who are suited to handle them! Should be grateful that you were chosen to be "singled out" for your efforts to the company ✨️

The long and short of it is that some people they care about keeping at all costs, and most they don’t.

Your coworkers and whether they’re punished or not aren’t the problem. It all comes from the top.

Yup. The one person in my office who I may be able to collaborate with works from home every day despite their occupancy indicator.

There are a few thousand that still wfh. Many more that work from a satellite office 3 days a week and go home early. Many thousands.

@OP - Your just upset that you have to RTO. Don't envy Virtuals or NVWs and how much more successful we are than you. Instead focus on yourself and maybe one day you can work virtual. But, until then please badge into the Dallas office 5 days a week.
