Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

I think I’d rather be laid off at this point

I can barely drag myself out of bed on workdays, and I dread coming in. Burnt out doesn’t even begin to cover it. I’ve worked at several companies before, and this has been the most toxic, exhausting, and unrewarding experience of them all. At this point, I’m willing to face a brutal job market and even a long stretch of unemployment if it means protecting my mental and physical health.

@mq I joined a new company right after accepting the VRP. I can't even tell you how much happier I am. It was incredibly stressful being a target every year with Pepsi and the new company has an atmosphere of fun that's been missing from Pepsi for over a decade.

@jb I REALLY enjoyed the double-pay this year, but I'm certain my taxes are going to be an unbelievable mess when I file. The only downside.

@jc I was extremely lucky, actually. I realize this. I was offered a new role, but was on the fence about hopping. Pepsi offered the VRP the following week and I couldn't accept fast enough. Thankfully the new company was very amenable to waiting for my separation date, and Pep HR was amenable to making certain I was in the first available wave. I love it at the new company.

@mb But I'm not. I enjoyed a year's severance and benefits while working at a wonderful new company and saved every last dime I could.

@bh, I told my manager that I would take a package. Hoping that message got passed on to HR!

Lots of gaslighting happening. Everyone that I keep in touch with that has left said their new companies are so much better.

@fw any trouble getting double pay? How did you handle your insurance with your new role? Delayed enrollment until Pepsi severance ended?

@bh - I did this! HR was happy to work with me and I got a year's severance and another job almost instantly. Well worth it.

This is how I felt a year ago. I was laid off from S&T and it was the best thing to ever happen to my mental health. My new company is chaotic, but it's manageable and I actually get to learn new skills. There's hardly any long term upside to working in an environment like PepsiCo.

The market isn’t that bad. You may have to lower your financial expectations a bit, but there’s a lot out there.

@bh and it will help someone stay who is not ready to go yet!

You can let your HR lead know you are open to this. They are looking for volunteers, they just can’t say it.

Before the troll start yapping, I did this and it’s being discussed.

@a7 same. The toxic Indian leadership I work with have driven me into a complete burnout. Just trying to keep my head up until they give severance. Hope they can do it in December.
Lord just give me patience to get thru

I have been waiting 5 years for them to lay me off. They said my job is being phased out. It is, I barely do anything compared to what I used to do. I want that severance package so I am sticking it out.

@OP are you me? I’m right there with ya. It’s not just the toxicity, it’s the gas lighting leadership does as well. I’m pretty done.
