Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Laidoff Directors, VP's, EVP's can start new companies

This is perfect moment for axed leaders to spin up their own ventures. They do have cash & stability compared to IC's.

With this brutal job market it would be a better opportunity for people to join hands for a new venture.
You can reach out to your loyal IC's who hand your back to band together. Tap your network of technologists and join hands with people who got laid off whether in US or in Asia.

I am sure that the upcoming job market will be tough with 14K+ amazonians and 5+ others flooding the market along with Oracle employees. This also gives some breathing space for visa holders and lower IC's to find jobs.

  • Lots of VCs are eager to give you $$$$$ if you have both the next big thing idea & the actual technical skills to bring it to life. If you just want to take advantage of others, you can forget about it

  • Team mates in Asia have access in large AI talent pool and strong venture funding in Asia. They don't really need you

  • CA unemployment benefits are only $450/week, which barely covers basic living expenses. It's a joke

The definition of a "start up" has changed. It used to be that they were started in garages, like Apple or HP. Today a start up is often started with ample investments, with a large staff, real office space and real salaries. While an entrepreneurial spirit is required such modern startups do need some experienced management, though I have my doubts Oracle managers would be a first choice.

This is Oracle directors you're talking about, all they can start is another pointless meeting, 6th in the day.

Seems most survived because of pure networking, manager licking and hiding info from below employees (bottlenecks). The upcoming market mainly focus on eliminating useless intermediate layers. I remembered few south indian VP's/ SVP's who hired and promoted employees just to do side business on their own & benefiting their wife. Some other real workers struggled in IC roles for long time without even a single promotion or hikes.

All VPS are nothing worth, their toles were only created to control employees - not worth itself, no skills - just magic MANAGEMENT 😜

@a7 you don't need to register till you get something concrete. you are always tax free.
Worthy and you can start this while vacationing in Hawaii with few hours to spend in your ideas.
After 6 m, once your severence drains out, you will be just back to job market. Remember the upcoming market is going to be much harder.

For your question: Who has the ideaa & who has the actual skills to build it?
How did you strategized when you worked for Oracle? Just licked your manager's and survived ? shame of you

Money - you have unemployment benefits to survive for a while
Employees - laidoff employees, team mates in asia who also search job
Time - till you get your next job or final interview
Technology - AI tools
You don't have to register your company till you have your first step or MVP.
The MVP can be a new AI product / technology or something you longed for.

All you need is a simple idea and courage and commitment to lead it.

If you can't handle this simple transformation and just make fun, you might be a boot-li---r leader and survived cheating all your employees/reports. Just retire.
