@a6 spot on assessment. This company just rewards incompetent people while genuine people who care for the results to the side. Toxic management at the very best and gets worse with every merger.
Job market isn’t bad for everyone. People with transferable skills like accounting can probably find a decent job in a couple of weeks. For those that don’t do anything or have any real skills, yeah, it’s gonna be a lot harder.
They are happy because the tower doesn’t want or like many people, beyond what they do to advance the careers of select people. Severance is the happiest ending to that relationship.
You may lose your job, but you’ll keep your soul..
