Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Move is On Hold!!

This is a horrible sign for corporate staff! I have a strong feeling they plan to do mass layoffs prior to 2/2 and that's why they halted the move so suddenly.
Why they didn't figure this out sooner is beyond me. Not much shocks me here though.

@kv we are still expected to show up to Deerfield next week on 2/2 and find a spot wherever on campus.
Our department got told to work from home last week and this week since they started to take away monitors and peripherals at OPO from the work stations.

There's a bunch of people packing stuff up still at OPO this morning, so I wouldn't bet on there being a delay.

When is the new date for the OPO move to Deerfield or is it TBD?

Does anyone have information regarding which VPs are going to be let go??

They definitely miscounted… They go from saying “we have enough seats for everyone” then they realized that they don’t. Supposedly layoffs are coming anytime between tomorrow and March. The wide range of layoff rumor dates is nerve-racking.

@b2 I dont know. It literally changes every time the topic comes up. A few weeks ago it was only contractor cuts, then it was only a handful of VPs, then it was contractors only again.

@b1 once the building remodel is done, teams will be moved so that deerfield and opo team members can sit together. They're getting rid of labs and high tops. Putting in more desks. Once thats done and they have a final count of space, they'll decide where to put everyone. Some teams may not move at all.

@az What do you mean that we are all going to move again at the end of February? Where? Why?

@a6 I'm a Sr Manager. I have never been asked about my team and have been given zero info on layoffs.

Sr Manager. We have ZERO insight into layoffs. I hear rumors from my Director about other teams but, nothing confirmed and haven't been asked about my team at all.

Move was put on hold because we were all going to move again at the end of Feb. CIO said thats d-mb, IT isn't moving twice. They just started construction to add desks this week.

Is the move on hold for all departments?

@a6 Managers aren't allowed to tell employees they are going to be laid off. They would lose their jobs if they leaked confidential information. Of course they are acting oblivious!

Do our managers even know what is coming? They sure act oblivious to anything coming our way.

Our "move coordinator" just sent out an email saying the moves were postponed until further notice and that people coming from the OPO will just have to find random open seats in any building on 2/2. That sounds crazy to me!
The OPO employees had already been worked into the new seating arrangements so this makes no sense at all.
All I can guess is they realized it's smarter to lay off people before moving them rather than after. IDK?!?!
