Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Any updates?

So far, it seems like folks in Ireland have been having a rough week. Nothing yet here, as far as I can tell. The newest rumor is that the big round might happen in the second half of November.

I honestly don’t know what to think anymore. This whole ordeal - the escalating rumors, the lack of official communication, and the high likelihood of layoffs, whether large or not - is making me really, really stressed and exhausted.

Not everything posted here is nonsense. It’s not normal for a CEO to be replaced this suddenly — something clearly triggered it. From what’s being discussed, major investors like Blackstone and State took a hard look at Verizon’s liquidity and capital structure. The bankers likely told the board to act before things got worse — that’s literally what investment bankers do for a living: spot exposure and push for early moves. The stock drop tells the rest of the story.

As for layoffs, a 15–20% cut all at once would be nearly impossible to pull off logistically. But over 6 to 12 months? That’s realistic — through outsourcing, attrition, and quiet restructuring. It’s a classic play to control costs, protect liquidity, and avoid shareholder activism.

Anyway, that’s something for you to read during lunch.

OP - Please do not rely on updates from this board
it is run by troll and 99% of the posts are made up, fake news, stir the fears,
I read them during my lunch break ONLY for entertainment purpose

GNT here. Leadership relayed 6% reduction by end of year, no specifics. Our group was asked if there were any volunteers. It is ongoing, and group dependent.

@dn Wrongo Chongo!

Verizon allowed Joe Biden and the government to spy on President Trump, 8 top Republican Senators, and close confidants of the president.

Putting more foreign employees will cost the company significantly more than VZ is paying them or what they are worth.

The Party is OVER for the globalists. OVER! And most USA employees will rat out the company to the FCC and congress every chance they get.

It is FInd Out time!

@dc What BS, the roles are going to Italy and not back to the US. Going back to the US is a dream and no where like reality. The US is over 40% more expensive than Italy and 25% more expensive than Ireland. So whatever dream world you live in, I hope you are happy!

@OP Ireland is on fire and the brink of civil war because of what woke globalists have done to the country and people they imported there. The jobs cut there won't be coming back to Ireland, but back to the USA.

There will likely be as many cuts as their are new hires to fix the flat that Hans and friends inflicted.

No one has done a worse job in company history than Hans and all of his VPs. No one! The Street has taken notice and finally so has the board.

Merry Christmas little saplings… This company is fun… Something tells me they think they can high the moribund performance next week with the CPI data coming out.

Maybe we get an Orwellian speech that this is why the numbers are in the dirt.

Why compete on price garnering hordes of customers such as what T Mobile has done?

Id--ts.

It was a nothingburger. There were small international ones which make sense with the new CEO's history of opposing outsourcing and pushing for domestic workforces. I don't think India has the same type of warn laws so they may want to keep their eyes open.

My boss just confirmed on our staff call a RIF is coming. I am in GNT. They are expecting 15% across the board with some departments getting hit harder than others. But no solid information.
