Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Insight Survey

I feel bullied by my leadership to take this survey. I don’t want to take it and risk being on the outs due to all the hard truths I’d give, but now our sr leadership is asking us to post an indication if we took it or not on a group team chat clearly so they can see if we have or not. Damned if I do, damned if I don’t. Anonymous is a joke! What would you do? I’m sadly tempted to lie and put middle of the road answers and call it a day.

Only after executive "leadership" has time to create their narrative about the few semi-positive takeaways. We will get a couple paragraphs of happy horsesh-t and never hear about the rest.

When do we get results?

  1. It’s not anonymous
  2. The owner of the answer can be pulled by a small but influential group of people
  3. Don’t do it if you have nothing glowing to say unless you don’t mind potentially being targeted.

@168

And you can? Please provide three. Otherwise, get that boot back down your throat before your overlords notice!

Leadership behaviors 😆😅🤣😂

Maybe we should all adopt insincerity and opacity, to fully emulate Mr Cordani, your ultimate "leader".

What a sad and pathetic joke...

@164 saying bootlicker makes you sound like a 4th grader.

You clearly can’t articulate a message or influence outcomes. Hopefully you are next!

@160

Who tf is striving to exhibit "leadership behavior" in this cr-p hole? By God, could you be more of a bootlicker?

Recommend completion of the survey honestly ( leadership behavior ) and submission to the survey process… let the chips fall where they may.

Every year I've gotten a bit bolder.

Last year my director was quite funny: "This is your chance to voice how you're really feeling. Be brutally honest he says" ... A few weeks later he says to me "I'm worried about team morale from what you put in your insights survey."

So uhh you figured out which one was me?
"There is no one else it could have been." You know that is for senior leadership / ELT Right?

Like my team (what's left of them) and management are actually all solid. I've even heard that generally even SLT sides with the employees but won't stand up to ELT. All this bad policy and decisions are coming straight from the c-suite.

I'm still here. Got one of the top merits in my area as well.

Mark them low and leave no comments.

Everyone is always harassed to take the survey.
They give the survey participation rate more importance than the actual results.
The only way to protest is to NOT take the survey but if you do take it then be brutally honest.

"fill it out" they said.

"they can't fix problems if they don't know" they said.

"use your voice" they said.

but when asked to provide one positive change from any survey results, suddenly these folks didn't have so much to say anymore 😆

@f6 this is not democracy. It's a private company

Leaders don't know who took it but they will know the percentage of their team took it. I'm sure they're are people in the company that see who said what. I've been there over 8 years and I've done the survey every year. I'm always brutally honest. I've never received any blowback. I feel like it's the only time I can speak my truth. But you should do what makes you feel better. Take it or don't... your immediate boss won't know.

For those that have been through this song and dance several times, can anyone recall a specific worker-focused positive change coming out of a survey like this?

They badger the he-l out of us, refuse to share comprehensive results, then just keep trucking along like nothing happened. At least as far as I can tell.

F‐‐- that noise.

@f6

I'm sure "leadership" is quite aware that we dislike RTO, constant layoffs/offshoring despite obscene quarterly profits, poor pay/raises, etc.

There are no epiphanies to be had here. Anything we contribute will be ignored or twisted against us.

voice concerns. Use your voice for everything not just these ridiculous surveys that companies like to throw out. Your voice is your power and you should always use it. Don’t let anyone make you feel it’s better to be quiet about anything.

@a6

If they don't know what needs fixing by now, they are so far beyond hope that a million surveys aren't going to fix them.

They know what's wrong. They have little sincere interest in making worker-based improvements.

They want to be able to pull a few items out of context so they can pat themselves on the back and send out some garbage communication about how not-trash it is here.

They may also "misunderstand" responses in their favor, like they did with the RTO mandate.

"Oh, you don't like it, that must be due to too much flexibility so it's now three full days with two forced shackle days each week."

Yeah, I'm not providing any input to their bad faith processes.

Suggest you say you filled it out but don't. Then if anyone confronts you about it, you can call them on it being "anonymous." I'm being a little facetious. Don't jeopardize your position over something so silly. Just answer everything middle of the road or NA where possible. Don't add any comments. You don't owe them your honesty or input right now, when they couldn't care less about employees, and haven't for years.

I half expect they'll just fire everyone that has anything bad to say 1st. I was honest regardless and torched leadership. -shrugs- I had a few nice things to say, but basically called out the stuff people on here keep saying (no job security, cr-p pay, corporate is short-sited and worsening healthcare as a whole).

I've been honest for years. Nothing I've said aligns with what senior "leadership" wants to do, so my input has been discarded. Another iteration isn't going to change things.

I'm not filling this one out, nor any future versions and I'd have no problem explaining this to anyone that asked.

I’d still be honest on it. If they don’t know what needs fixing then no attempts will be made. They need to know what’s working and what isn’t. I understand being concerned of it not truly be anonymous but at the very least focus your honesty on less risky feedback (things like processes or resources) while being more cautious with anything that could be taken personally by leadership.
As far as notifying it in the group chat, I’d wait a day or two after doing the survey and just say “survey completed” or just don’t say anything about it until asked directly and then say “ oh sorry I completed the survey the other day and it slipped my mind to post about it but it was completed”
