When I worked in ECMO, I noticed that every single manager and team lead had a photo of their family for their computer wallpaper. Isn't that weird? What's that all about? Do they get a memo saying something along the lines of, "Now that you're a manager...", or do they just tribalistically recognize the "family values" hokum? Seriously makes Wells Fargo seem like a cult. Is it this way at all large corporations?

It's unwise to make assumptions. No one ever sees my desktop, so who exactly am I 'signalling' with a nice pic of a forest? Maaaaaybe I just like to look at it myself and couldn't care less what other people think of it. Crazy theory, I know.
The fam pic crowd probably needs a constant reminder of why they punish themselves by continuing to work in such an S hole.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb and guess that most of this company's problems are from those that have default imagery on their desktop. The "family pics" crowd gives a damn, which is generally more conducive to success. I don't have fam pics myself, but I do have a series of nature backgrounds that aren't default Windows junk.
