Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Why did they buy TikTok?

This is a genuine question, I am not trolling.
Nothing I've heard so far makes any business sense.

Because, TikTok was allowing open criticism of that country for which no criticism is tolerated; whose leadership is viewed by the youth as genocidal maniacs. So, L.E. put a stop to all that free speech and implemented the usual censorship controls.

Get your facts straight: Oracle is a major investor in TikTok, it did not fully buy it. Oracle strengthens its position in cloud services and data analytics while supporting a high profile client on its infrastructure. But it was done more for geopolitical pressure than a traditional acquisition.
