New hire wondering about layoffs

I started here a few months ago and I’ve already had to face layoffs. Not exactly giving me confidence in joining. What I’m wondering is if new hires usually get any kind of cushion, or if we’re just as exposed as everyone else from day one? It'd be good to know since people are already talking about more cuts.

Remember the layoffs are all from mckinsey, so there is just a goal to cut, cut, cut!

@a5 I’ve been with FIS for quite a while and I can tell you that if there is a rhyme or reason who they pick for RIF’s, it’s pretty obscure. Key players have been laid off and dead weight players have not. I do know that they are trying to flatten the org - but that doesn’t always seem to be the case.

I am newbie at this company started in May and I completely regret coming to this coming.

This company is a complete f**king mess and is a-s backwards.

Our whole team knows this company su-ks and we do the bare minimum just to survive

@OP You should be looking as should everyone at FIS. The massive layoffs this year are the results of incompetent management from the CEO and all of her cronies she has put in place. I'm in the twilight of my career and this is second of the two worst companies I've ever worked for in my career. The first worst company was my first job out of college that was so poorly mismanaged it went out of business within 4 years of me joining. I got out before it it shuttered, but I see very eerie similarities with this first experience and what is happening at FIS.

You’re just as exposed as someone who’s been here a while. The layoffs are the result of mismanagement and that includes hiring that doesn’t align with the long-term strategy or goals of an org.

"Let's keep the new person and fire someone who knows how to do the job instead"

Makes sense to me.
