Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

T 133K , VZ 89K, TMO 75k employees .. 10% means 13K layoffs

So looking at the current employee counts based on Annual Form 10-K filings it looks like T is about to shed $13K+ employees this rounds, and it will still be 40K employees more than VZ , Is the goal to be in line with the other Telcos or will they always have more?

So why do we have so many workers than VZ and TMO?

Blackrocks 8% ownership in the company gives them significant influence on the pace of headcount reduction. RTO to hub cities could’ve been their idea as well. In my opinion the large institutional investor is bad for employees and benefits. Remember when we had 5x the headcount and paid 100% of our healthcare with a fraction of the revenue

@am “ During the software symposium, Mcelfresh pointed out that SpaceX became an ISP while launching rockets and building data centers, all with only 20k employees. I sense the old Uverse “rethink possible” slogan making a comeback.”

and as usual Jeff was wrong. Most of our employees are field techs, retails store reps and call center. Hardly any actual technical development or innovation people left here. It’s been gutted to the hilt. Space X doesn’t have a huge network or customer base to manage, thus all their people are engineers and software developers. They always miss the obvious and just follow the leader. Totally clueless in the leadership space here and that’s why we are falling like a rock. It is just painful to watch all the d-mb decisions and comments that get made by the top. Yet they won’t promote anyone that actually knows how to fix it, just more yes people and box checkers.

yes. T will need to reduce staff by aleast 40k. Keep in mind Verizon is laying off another 15k employees. It is a race to the bottom!
