Thread regarding Wayfair Inc. layoffs

End of 2025

I've been an employee for a very long time, and when I first started, this was literally the best place I had ever worked in ALL of my endeavors. Even throughout covid they took care of us and our customers - It was brutal, but tolerable.

Now, they've demoted some of their best performers, only to replace them with off-shore id--ts that have not one clue what they are doing. They tell the customers the wrong thing, or they tell them they ordered a replacement or issued a discount, but they did not - leaving MC to clean up all of their messes. MC has been a catch all for the last 6 months. We are large parcel, we are managers (without the title), we are frontline, finance; but yet we don't have the tools to take care of the customer. For a company that wants us to practice the CARES transcript to better assist our customers; I'm not sure they know what that word means. I give everything I got with our customers; to make sure they have a good experience or to better the issues they had, but when tools are constantly taken away from us to deliver that customer experience - That shows that this company does not care - About our customers or us. And before those of you get on here and say. "if you don't like it, find something else." - you think it's that easy? You're still here aren't you? And you can't be having a good time unless you're getting paid an above normal salary or in upper management, where you're making up these ridiculous margins, that are somewhat impossible to achieve or maintain. I'm old school when it comes to customer service and again, I put my all into it - that's what the retail business is about... Retaining customers and building relationships with them. Wayfair, you're losing more customers than your gaining and retaining. That's not on your employees, that's on you and upper management who quite frankly doesn't know how to manage squat. I'd get your act together or there won't be a Wayfair. It might hang by a thread for a while; but the more offshore takes control, the thinner that thread becomes.

We got an email about layoffs this morning and no one in MC is talking about this in slack chats!! What are y’all afraid of??? this is bullsh-t!! Let’s talk about what’s happening !!! Luckily I put my notice in yesterday after 5.5 years. Wayfair is not the same as it was prior to outsourcing.

We should all quit at once.

It would be nice if all of the US employees had the ability to quit before they are ready to lose us. It would be complete chaos with only offshore agents handling the customers.

Telling a customer that FedEx will pickup assembled furniture or disassemble their furniture would get us fired, but its what Wayfairs customers hear daily from offshore agents. I have gotten so many bad surveys over this and I am paying the price with my metrics, this is not my fault.

1000% agree they are costing me my job by wrapping over me and lying to customers. Management is turning a blind eye to what they are doing. Its abusive to the US workers.

These offshore agents are making the biggest mess of everything and they are not being impacted at all from what they are doing. Its us the people on the phones that take the heat and have their metrics destroyed. Management needs to address this, offshore is working against the US workers and not delivering customer service to our customers. I have been yelled at non stop by customers over them telling customers a crock of lies. I am so sick of this and it needs to end.

@e7 I agree. I got tired of worrying every month if I was going to be laid off, and after they put my specialized team back on the phones, I decided I'd had enough. I was there for just over nine years. I found a new job within three days, and essentially came into work just to let my manager know I was leaving. They weren't going to give me notice, so I saw no reason to give Wayfair notice. No regrets. I still watch the company to see how it's doing and it sounds like nothing has changed for the better.

It’s unfortunate but they’re basically going to start losing people off. My last company started doing this exact same thing to the T. They hired hundreds of offshore agents, they were saying and doing whatever with the customers and we had to clean up whatever mess they made but also still uphold our metrics. At some point I was like I don’t really care anymore so when they laid off all the US agents and our managers/supervisors everyone was shocked and I wasn’t at all. They were offering VTO nearly every day and we barely were getting calls.
Now they’ve taken away what managers can do and we can not transfer escalated customers lol. Surprisingly my surveys have been pretty decent but with lack of information, lack of tools, and lack of support I see what they’re doing and really everyone should just prepare themselves. Work on your resume, have a plan.

@e7 there are no key cards and desks - he-l there isn't even a building - which is part of the problem. they think they're doing us a favor by working from home and it's not all its cracked up to be.

@e4 The company has let you down and giving notice only helps the company. Just pack up your desk and leave your keycard on your boss's desk as you walk out with your only words being an email to HR saying "I quit."

Stop giving notice. It does not do anything at all for YOU.

Im considering giving my notice I have worked for Wayfair 5 years and this is the final straw. They have everything in place right now with metrics to put us all on PIPs. They send surveys in every call, and in these calls that we take we cant fix customers issues we will for sure get a bad survey response. With FCR customers will call in continuously until they get their resolution. We are 100% sc--wed. Management did this so they dont have to lay anyone off, they will just fire us instead.

@a4 if you don’t work for wayfair go to Reddit please. No one asked for outside opinions. This is our life and our money at risk

They are doing this to push everyone out either by quitting or not meeting their goals. They have made the % so high to bonus and also cut the bonus. The amount of things they have taken away from us in the past 6 months is insane. Each time they do something its always making things much more difficult for the employee and the customer. Most of the control has been given to the offshore employees. Wayfair has bet the farm on these employees and they dont care about the US employees. I have made my decision and I am getting out of the dept after 4 years. Its not worth staying here when you dont have the tools to do your job. New positions will hopefully be posted in the new year.

@a4 depends on what you buy. I didn’t say I’m proud of the company or the furniture. I take pride in customer service, and if the tools are being taken away, I don’t have the ability to help the customer. Also, I don’t make or sell things on Wayfair so what you said has nothing to do with my comment. Also, you act like Wayfair is the only company that uses MDF and press board for furniture. Why do you think companies ship and sell that? Because it’s cheaper and it’s easier to ship out. Anywho, have a wonderful new year.

Management has failed the department and should be ashamed of themselves. They don’t care about the impact of their constant changes and the stress that brings to the employees. I am sick to my stomach with what they have done to us all.

You sell pressboard junk furniture and low quality knick knacks. There is nothing to be proud of. The current state is the logical progression of monetized mediocrity.
