Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Did Mike Sicilia FAIL on Day One at Oracle?

Mike Sicilia was the head of Oracle’s Industries Global Industry Unit (IGIU) until today, now he is the CEO of Oracle. I think he failed already. At IGIU VP/SVP titles were selected for layoff is only 5.6%, well below a commonly cited ~10% benchmark for broad reductions. Why might senior titles be less affected? We can all name plenty of worthless VPs and SVPs at IGIU. Transparency on criteria would go a long way toward trust. I don't trust Mike, do you?

Mike was running PGBU then CEGBU. He's got the personality of a cement block and doesn't care about any human being at that company. if you think he's bad...you should see the human excriment that he mentored from the Primavera side. oh my God. they didnt know the difference between a database and printer.

I had heard it was 10% cost reduction, not 10% headcount reduction. One US based SVP would go a long way toward 10% cost reduction, probably equal to several US based ICs or a whole department of IDC employees. It also explains why this RIF seemed to hit long tenured and higher cost employees.

As long as his superiors or manager recognize his efforts thats all it matters. Doesn't have to be liked by his subordinates.
