How does it work for people on parental leave? Does that make you more or less likely to be on the list? If you're on the list, how is it handled?

@OP Oracle used to not lay off employees on parental or medical leave or sabbatical, but that no longer applies. I saw a good amount of people laid off who fell within these categories over the last year. I'm a former M6 no longer woth Oracle. Feeling bad for all those affected by this round.
"FMLA protects you from the employer firing you FOR taking time off - for reasons of childbirth, child bonding, hospitalization, bereavement, etc.it does not protect you from company-wide reductions in force."
This is correct. If you do a web search, you'll see confirmation.
@a6 this is most definitely against the law, they should sue
@a3 no, it does not protect you.
didn't you read our HR playbook that was leaked last year? it had the instructions to call employees on leave and fire them over the phone.

@a3 not necessarily true in the US. they can still lay you off while you’re on leave. I’ve heard of them waiting until the day you return to tell you but also know someone who was laid off during parental leave
parental leave is different, it's illegal to lay you off
Will it be emails in the US? Sorry I should have specified location.
You will still get the layoff email. It does not impact the chance of you getting layoff at all. If you do not respond to the email in time, they will call you.
