Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Belittled beyond repair

If you’ve been crushed by the toxicity of this company - know you aren’t alone. This is a culturally unhealthy organization ruled by politics and very bad decisions at the top to middle of house. The management here is a total joke, ruled by their own self interests. Share your own stories of how messed up your time at this company has been below. 👏🏽

Promotion is always given to those with their heads the furthest up their boss's. Skill, dedication, and knowledge will lock you into your current position. If you are completely useless but really know how to kiss azzzz, promotion into middle management might be in the cards.

My boss does nothing by complain, belittle and talk bad about people behind their backs. I have caught her outright lying to protect herself to the point of lawsuit. During our most recent layoffs, many people around her and us were hit. But somehow she managed to get herself a promotion at the same time.

I cry here everyday. Trying so hard to stay strong until I can get out. This is torture.

After I left it took me about two months to get back to what I would call a normal mental state. I still have the occasional bad dream about working for my former manager but that's probably part of the healing process. I still have some tics like checking my work email multiple times during the weekend, as if I'm subconsciously expecting a sh---y email from a manager that I'll never have to speak with again. But despite those things, please know it gets better on the other side.

It's been a steady downhill experience since RD left. The vibes and culture of the bank began to shift and I think COVID slowed that down for a bit because all of a sudden management needed staff to be happy. Once that waned we went back into spiral and it became blatantly obvious that the MC intends on thinning staff and reducing benefits to make the shareholders happy. It's been depressing to experience that change and realize that what used to be is no longer the reality and moreso than ever we are reduced to line items in a spreadsheet. The wound hurts more Everytime there is an all staff call and MC gaslights everyone that morale isn't low and that our TTUS responses are considered. Used to love this company and it was a rewarding job that was accentuated by working for people who made it feel like individual effort was appreciated. Not anymore. It's so sad.

I work in Payments, and it’s real ugly depending on who you report through. I don’t think many of the management here realizes the monsters they have turned into over the years in an attempt to save their own behinds. Lots of wolves in sheep’s clothing. It’s gross.

In my 25 year career, the almost 2 years I spent in CBB at USB was the most toxic, poorly managed, disastrous sh-tshow I’ve ever experienced. In hindsight I’m Glad I was laid off last year when the severance was decent and the job market wasn’t quite in the gutter. Good luck to those who remain especially in CBB where the jobs are all headed to Bangalore.

@a3 TBH, the current retail structure is terrible at being bankers. They can't sell, don't understand credit, have no drive, and need a reset.

The turnover in retail is pathetic! Rather than build people up, we’re pushing the CRC’s out. Hire District Mangers and Brand Managers that can take raw talent and develop people to become successful bankers! Do better.
