Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

polite way to get a package?

3 yrs ago my children passed away from a rare form of cancer. This last yr my marriage fell apart. I've never even told anyone even close this at work. I dont want to be another sad story sounding pathetic, but I would very much like to be laid off. I want to feel something again, not numb, not seeing sad faces, fake faces at work. I've been thinking if I get a package I can go live in Mexico or something for a while, the people there seem happy. Any advice is welcome.

Get a referral to a psychiatrist. Get them to put you on short term disability. Depending on. How long you have been with the company, it could be 26 weeks pay and benefits.

Under the FMLA you can get an extended leave (12 weeks?) if you give them a 30-day notice (if possible). This way you'll still have your job after 3 months if you change your mind. In some states this leave can be paid, but even if it isn't, just go to Mexico and live there for a couple of months, and see where that gets you (assuming you can afford it). Get a diagnosis from a psychiatrist for depression (sorry, but it looks like you have it, perfectly understandable), and with this diagnosis in hand apply for the extended leave. The company cannot refuse it, or they'll be in huge trouble for breaking federal law. I happen to know these details because my @$$ho1e boss threatened everybody in a meeting recently after learning that one employee from another group was going on an extended leave, and I researched the issue. All the best to you.

Ask for a un unpaid leave FMLA or something. Mental health is a legit reason for FMLA.

Sorry for your loss. Why don't you talk to your boss and ask if he can put you on the layoff list? I have heard sometimes this happens especially if you have a long tenure. Good luck.

Deliver the least amount of work possible while not being put on PIP, and push back on everything, find ways to avoid making any progress on your deliverables. Then start becoming a problem for your manager. Try talking too much, challenging everything - even the most basic thing.

Be sure to profess outwardly and genuinely your love for the company and the job.

When you become a problem, and people can’t stand to work with you, but they know you won’t leave on your own, you’ll get the package when the axe is doing the rounds. It may take a year or two though.

Whatever you do, don't tell anyone you're looking for a package, those tend to be the very last people to get them. The whole scheme from HY is to motivate vol attrition, if they know you want to leave they are more likely to turn the sc--ws to push you over the edge than they are to hand you one.
