After yesterday's 10% cut I can't help but think that all we are to this company are chickens saved at the sla-ghterhouse. We are good until the next round but at the end of the day we are still chickens.

"nobody gets hired knowing people are going to milk weeks away from work to raise some obnoxious kids"
You're right, but AT&T offered a benefit that gave me the opportunity for maternity/paternity leave. So, again, there was a mutual understanding that I might partake in a benefit that AT&T offered if the occasion presented itself.
@ax terms of the relationship change. Just like stupid maternity paternity leave, nobody gets hired knowing people are going to milk weeks away from work to raise some obnoxious kids.
@av "It’s a mutual agreement"
You're right! It was a mutual agreement that I would WFH when AT&T hired me. It was mutually agreed that I would work in Atlanta, not Dallas, when AT&T hired me. Please explain this to Stank! Thank you for your help.
Why do people actually think their jobs owe them more than the paycheck they earn? It’s a mutual agreement and one can quit the other at any time without reason. I don’t hear anyone whining when people feel empowered to quit their jobs for another opportunity so why is it so unconscionable that a company exercising the same right? The inequality of the relationship seems to come from employees not saving for a rainy day and then freaking out when that lever is pulled. Sounds like a you problem. Maybe don’t buy your McMansion and lease your stupid ford 150 truck that you haul absolutely nothing in but drive around with little di-k energy and then you won’t be on the hook when the company doesn’t need you anymore.
We are considered worse than chickens. Everyone below C-Suite is considered completely replaceable by something better and cheaper.
@a2 We are all leased employees. I had a Sr. Director tell our group that a few years ago. We all left the meeting puzzled why he would say that at that time.
OP
100%
And we are still at the sla-ghterhouse, so we all know what that means—it’s just a matter of time for the rest of us.
To believe otherwise means you just arrived or you’re lying to yourself.
