Maybe tomorrow can happen, by April 3rd it can happen? How many still pending.. How much percentage of Mexico gone?

well now we know the answer, it was around 10k in one night, within 7-hour window
previous maximum was 3.4k on September 2nd, 2025 within 24h.
If it's March 31, how many can be fired in a single day
Not nearly enough, based on the inane posts I see on this board.
@OP Mass email list will be sent to all at the same time with all links to end employment
@dw And the webinar laid off were terminated on the spot. No garden leave. Severance was similar to the current deal. I also recall that if there was any WARN protection for your campus, that it would be subtracted from your severance package.
Those dejobbed handed in their laptops and card keys on their ways out the building. IIRC, it was right before the Labor Day holiday. 80% of my team was terminated that day, including our manager. For the survivors morale was lower than the bottom of a submarine and for the next few weeks little to no work got done, as the the remaining management chain tried to figure out and prioritize what we survivors should do moving forward.
Even though not invited, I sat in on the webinar out of camaraderie with those about to be axed. ES read from a long script in an emotion free dead pan, thanking the dejobbed for their services, which were no longer needed, and that effective at 5PM local time their employment would be terminated. I later heard that the dismissal message was prerecorded.
Years ago when the cut a large portion of the hardware team it was via webinar. No ability to speak - just a message delivered to everyone on the call. If you were not invited to the call, you were safe. From what I remember, shortly after the call you got an email from HR basically telling you that a FedEx package was coming to your home with details. Very impersonal, but that's Oracle all the way.
Its a phased approach. Starting today till May end.
So far in this round of layoffs, only Slack access is immediately cut off. So if we get the RIF email, they can just cut you off of Slack immediately, while still allowing you to access and accept the layoff terms in the email.
@OP so does anyone know how the RIF by email scenario would play out? How do they know to lock you out of the system?
Luke Skywalker: More than you can imagine!
Han Solo: I can imagine a lot.
Layoffs will continue after this round. This is first round of many. AI is here and all of us will be tasked to train it to replace us. 2026 will be a year of layoffs. Stock holders demand return for investment. I hope I am wrong, but this is the trend in the industry.
@a9 What difference does it make? My manager told us already that in case this happens he would just read whatever he is given and say whatever he is told to say and not a word more. He also said he was sorry in advance. Feels like an email might be better. At least, don’t have to sit in that meeting and say who knows what.
@a1 makes sense. Try the process on a small batch to begin with, before turning the bots loose on the humans.
I'd say 3 billion
That's like asking how high a computer can count.
They are also doing it on the last day (or very close to) the month, to save money on health insurance. It's a very disgraceful way to do this. It's also degusting that they are mostly doing it by email vs 1:1 with managers.
@a4 oh sorry,
I am blind, peak daily was 3.4k
- sep02, 6am UTC: 172796 (0)
- sep03, 7am UTC: 169366 (-3430)
- sep04, 6am UTC: 168958 (-408)
- sep05, 6am UTC: 168771 (-187)
Based on slack tracking, the biggest reduction per day is under 500 since September 02
@a2 Oracles only effective product offering, Layoff Fulfillment by Oracle now with even less personal touch.
@a1 Heartwarming. Firing by email bot. Just like in Amazon Fulfillment Centers.
For IDC support team layoff that happened couple days ago, they used the email only method, instead of 1 on 1 zoom. They might do the same for US on 3/31 since the impacted amount will be in the tens of thousands.
