Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Any job is better than unemployment

I know many are tempted to quit with cuts and uncertainty but unless you have something lined up, don't. Even a horrible job that pays the bills is better than unemployment at a time when job market is among the worst it's ever been. Don't make the mistake of putting yourself into an even worse position on an impulse.

@a2 "As I observed only employees close to retirement and brown nosers are staying there."

I don't know, get out more? We're here. On the outside. Rif'd and unemployed. We know first hand what it's like out here and don't want to see others go through it if they don't have to.

Stay where you are until you have a firm commitment for another job. And yeah, it's a really REALLY good idea to send out feelers. Have friends who work in other places? Networking is your best chance of finding new employment, now more than ever before.

And if you DO get rif'd.... well, you're in a lot of company and I'm sorry. Just network network network. It's a sh!t show out here.

Apply to jobs outside, send your CV out, the layoffs will continue spanning to one year.

Don’t say like that. Do not act a slave, take the responsibility in your hands to choose the place where you will not be loosing your mental and physical health. Change your career path, just start learning - a new courses, take another job to pay the bills. Don’t worry if it’s not IT world. But it’s on your condition. I left Oracle some time ago, found a new job. As I observed only employees close to retirement and brown nosers are staying there.
