Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T radio commercial in Dallas

I just heard a commercial that made me want to puke. AT&T is promoting their 150 year anniversary. DJ said how proud he was of his father's 35 year career with AT&T and how he's been through massive technological adventures. What a joke! Stinky wants you out in less than five years; no such thing as long-term employees anymore. Zero loyalty. Fu-k AT&T!

As i understand the history,
The part that innovated was bell labs.

When the guy in NJ talked about the birth of the original telephone innovations, he was so vague and said things like "it was developed over there..." (referencing Unix, transistors, etc) What he should have said was that it was developed in Holmdel, Murray Hill, etc which all USED to be AT&T locations...

Will special recognition be given to the many employees who were here for the centennial? Reaching another 50 years at T is a milestone.

This entire 150 years thing rubs me the wrong way. As i understand the history,
The part that innovated was bell labs. Thats owned by other people now.
AT&T was failing and floundering as long distance became a commodity, so SBC bought them in 2005, and has been skinwalking as them ever since because the name is better known.
Stolen valor?

Right, celebrate 150 years of connecting people not in the same physical space by forcing employees to be in the same physical space.

Yes, no loyalty!! Feel better? Meanwhile, I just got off my unemployment call trying to get an extension of benefits due to this cr-ppy technology head lock we are all in.
