Thing is, they lay off all your closest colleagues (various departments) until they ki-l off the business, leaving the few remaining staff overworked, disengaged and depressed. Then they say we can only recruit more people when we grow the business. And so the downward spiral continues (a bit like the share price).

poor timing, poor taste,
how does a company justify downsizing layoffs, and post a job for head of sales $250k min salary in the same week, with the Pres of HiEd reposting it on linked in ??!!?
@a2 As someone who was impacted by these layoffs, I think this probably the strategy. So I am sure there will be more cuts along they way and all those partnerships with Deliottle and IBM and more, they will have them work on the new products and that will leave the FTEs to basically keep the lights on existing products. Not a bright future tbh.
You’re absolutely correct. Somehow I’ve survived another purge. Probably because I’m underpaid. All my talented colleagues have been let go. I have no idea how I’ll do this job without them. My boss was let go. She was the smartest person I’ve ever met here. She knew everything about the product, content, author history, everything. My job was hard enough. It’s going to be even tougher without her. I am beyond devastated.
My guess is its part of a larger scheme by Omar, board and their cronies. They are turning a traditional publishing company into a lean software company, jack up stock prices and sell it to cash rich companies like Microsoft, Google, Aws etc. I can see the trend when a hostile takeover attempt was made in 2022 by Apollo.
