Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Reorg is a futile exercise

Absolutely nothing will change, except many of us will be jobless and replaced by cheaper offshore hires. At this point, I’m starting to think those who got kicked out first might be the luckiest. I can’t imagine enduring more months of this mess, only to land in a gutted team with heavier workloads and an even worse company culture.

Many people in their 20s and 30s took the AEOI option. I saw this in the HR notice letter, which shows the "Decisional Unit" for that option. Don't wait too long to get out.

@bc I’ve been through a half dozen of these as well. This is the worst I’ve ever seen morale, and I’m not sure the workforce ever recovers in the US like it did after all of the others.

I've been through several of these stupid reorgs. This one is no different than the others. Management is confused, offering no direction concerning what you are responsible for or who to report to. Just like the last one I look around and start doing the work until someone tells me to stop or do something else. It's not the best way to run a business but keeping busy helps me from thinking about what a disaster this one has been.

"neighborhoods" is the new buzz word, just like Mr. Rogers....
The theme song says, "It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?..." "Won't you be my neighbor?"

@a6
Good idea, but when we notice your face muscles are paralyzed and you don't smile anymore, we will know you have the botox injections.

@a2 well said, you hit that on the nail. In fact it would be foolish if we didn't do exactly what you propose to do with the remainder of your time aboard the Titanic as they quite literally shuffle the decks (aka, unassigned seating and neighborhoods)!

@a2 I'm curious if you think it would help if someone looked younger than they actually are? I'm often mistaken for early to mid-30s despite my actual age. Of course WorkDay and HR know but if job owners and selection reps are the ones pulling the real strings, then looking younger may make people perceive you as still being able to learn new things, no?

Botox for all! /s

I was not left standing, but I am heading out the door as soon as I can find a better job. My plan is to use my employment just as security until I am able to find another job. I have been left with a workload that is not possible to achieve. After what everyone saw just happened to the old guys around here in this last round, it is quite well known that it will only be a matter of time before they do the same to me. Given my age I am lining up in the sla-ghter chute along with the other others that were recently let go. I wish you all the best and hope that you are able to get out of here before the axe falls on your head next. I have enjoyed working with so many incredible people over the years and will be sad to leave my colleagues that are still with the company, but the writing is on the wall and if you can’t read it it’s because you are simply not paying attention.
