@dv EM will do it for the money. They are not altruistic. They see MDT as a cash cow.

@z6 EM will probably give some severance but it will be skimpy.

@vp

Exactly this. To save even more money, EM won’t give out severance.

@a8 EM has already evaluated each business. These guys are serious.

@dv EM is a flipper. They come in and boost the stock (at all costs) then get out of dodge.

Zero skin in the game because this is a short term play for them. Convert the company to a sla-ghterhouse and ki-l golden goose and sell the meat while positioning itself as a master butcher instead of investing in collecting the eggs. Then bail out before anybody realizes there’s nothing left to sla-ghter.

Don’t have the false hope-as long as Martha is the Chair nothing would change. Adding those new directors to the board just adding excuses for the failure of leadership.

So? GM means layoffs as well. Layoffs will happen either way. The difference will be that EM will do it in pursuit of actual improvement. GM and his cronies do it to make the numbers look better temporarily, while achieving nothing long term, and padding up their own lives getting ready to cash out.

Geoff is pi---d off because his plan has been foiled.

At least EM means that they try and actually make the company profitable, get share prices up, and become a sustainable company again.

GM will manage himself out with a hefty package — he is chairing both new committees. His “firing” will be a golden parachute he helps install.

I’d bet they’re going to break up the company. Already started with Vent, Patient monitoring, and Diabetes with the current bod. Low profit/no future OUs or product lines will be sold off or scuttled. Many will lose their jobs, and this will happen very quickly. Watch for assets to be sold too, such as valley labs and the new Lafayette facility. Cost of sales is also too high, so massive cuts to sales.

Yeah easy to say until your OU is a private equity spinoff. They expect results. Which is way different than Medtronic.

Good, we need to cut fat.

Lot of PPT makers and team meeting pushers

We should start with those OU which don’t make any money like PV, CS etc

From what has leaked out so far, they will evaluate every BU for potential divestiture. Refocus on opportunities in the CardioVascular portfolio.
