@a4 No. Keeping the h1-b may be logical. But it is illegal to renew H1-B when you have Americans to hire from

@be when and where did he say that? Did I miss a communication. If you can provide the proof, I can publicise it and sue them. That is fu--ing golden evidence

Instead of complaining about H1-B, if you are a citizen or permanent resident, apply for those jobs internally. That can be a promotion or a step up for you. I do it all the time. I get rejected every time(obviously). I have recorded and catalogued those applications. The day my layoff happens, I will pull those records out to bargain on a severance. I will ask for 10 times but will settle it for 5 times. If they don’t pay, I have enough to file discrimination based on nationality. I did it at my last company. I dad the severance x 3.75 as the settlement. That too through negotiations only. You all can do the same. That is how you break the back of these tech companies and their cheap labor h1-b

H1b or no H1b nothing stops any company to outsource all jobs.

BTW the abuse of IDC employees by making them work inhuman hours is not going unnoticed. Indian parliament is passing a law making it illegal to ask employees to work after normal work hours.

Go figure what that will do to outsourcing. All companies will transfer IDC employees to US.

@a4 is correct, in Oracle's case they'll just hire more Indians in India. Oracle won't care about the loss of experience and quality as long as it makes the balance sheet look good.

The DOL needs to penalize American companies that purposefully try to disenfranchise American workers. (I can see something like that happening with this administration.)

This thread needs to go viral. Can someone not working for the company post it in social media.

@aa Please contact Sara Gonzales to get your H1B related facts cleared. Just do not post your thoughts publicly on social media that Sara Gonzales will have it in her feed.

@a9 do you only selectively read half of all facts? Texas didn’t ban all H1B. As of January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered a freeze on new H-1B visa petitions at all Texas state agencies and public universities. If he did ban all H1B for other companies, you think those billionaires will still let him stay in office for long?

@a6 this is delusional argument. In US the entire system will sit in jail based on your response.

State of Texas has already banned H1b. Next lawsuits are being filed.

@a5 Your comment is exactly why we Americans will keep on getting exploited by this admin and the rich. The person literally spells out the actual systemic issue at hand and you decide to threaten a powerless manager.

@a5 the point of my comment is to state that this is a systemic issue that not a individual manager can solve. If you are able to, put yourself in the following situation:

  • you are a manager in Oracle with 70% of your reports on H1B.
  • you are behind on P0 items like most teams in Oracle
  • your manager is Indian so is his manager
  • you decided to tell your manager that I’m going to fire all your h1b employees and TRY your best to replace them as soon as you can

Then imagine the outcome.

  • you get fired cause you are risking the success of the product and customers and at Oracle you know what we say, customers always come first
  • you are replaced by another Indian manager

Management perspective will land you in jail if you do not follow the existing laws to not hire an alien if a qualified US citizen exists to do the job.

Speaking from management perspective, we had to increase some H1B employees' pay due to the new pay based selection process for H1B. If you have an employee who has been on the team for years and is a really good contributor and engineer, keeping the person is the logical thing to do.

On the flip side, the new H1B policy does make it harder to hire new non US citizens, which is the intent of the policy. The result is more offshoring, more people in IDC, it mostly does not result in increase hiring for Americans.

We need laws that actually hold these big companies accountable, but that will never happen under the current lobbying system where big companies will always have loopholes to exploit. Most of the recent immigration policies are aimed towards making the voter base feel like something is improving while achieving the opposite. All by design, all intentional.

It's less of a "boost", and more of a disincentive to hire foreign workers over Americans. Oracle can't undercut its indentured servants anymore.

Companies will boost pay for H1Bs as they are naturally motivated to work like crazy to not get laid off.
