So we got all our severance agreement emails. But a friend got a strange attachment sent along with theirs. It’s a list of job titles, ages, and two other columns saying “selected for layoff” and “not selected for layoff”. It has no names or location. So for example it says “Med Asst Lead” and then an age next to it (ex: 25) and then an x under the “selected” or “not selected” for layoff column… It looks like it was an accident and shouldn’t have been sent to them. But I find it very strange that they included the age but no name or location

@y5
100% correct. It's a requirement in many states. I got one 3 years ago when I was RIF'd.
I got rehired 2 days later
This was attached to the severance email both times I was laid off. I have assumed it was a state requirement or something since others did not receive it.
@f0 then you see that ppl younger than you also got cut and it wasn’t bc of age
Is Ferris okay? Is he alright? Cause his friend's sister's brother's buddy who has a sweet transam friend is wondering. Just asking
@a2 it’s a federal requirement
@e0 what if you’re the oldest
@OP they do that to try to avoid the appearance of age discrimination. This way you see you’re not the oldest or that someone older was laid off.
@OP I received the same coincides with my dept
That’s interesting. I work for Optum HBMC and during mass firings and layoffs in March a college received a similar email. I asked her about it bc I was considering speaking with a labour lawyer but she dropped out of the conversation without divulging the information. Sounds like an accident- and if there are ages involved that would support a discrimination suit
10/30 Wellmed located at El Paso Tx closed one entire clinic laid off 10 at other and let go of all lab techs and x ray techs in all clinics multiple people laid off within the remaining clinics , got email about early mandatory meeting next day 7 am got the news and informed 15 min to collect our things and return badges including NPs and Doctors layed off , Wellmed is part of Optum and UHG
Just a required form for the 40 plus crowd shows age job title as a token to defend against age discrimination. Got this a couple times at other companies when i was on the chopping block last time was 2002 so nothing new. All it really shows is that some younger folks get caught in the crossfire to homogenize the group to get the real target next time since if everyone is older in the group everyone is now fair game
@a9
100% correct
Yes it is a standard form to show it is not targeting people over 40, so you see roles with ages and who was selected or not selected for the chopping block this round.
Got laid off at a different company. But anyone 40 and over gets that attachment. New law I guess. I got one from my company.
@a1 it looks like a long list with many rows. The ages are all mixed, ranging from 20’s all the way to 70. I wondered if the ages had something to do with it too but i don’t see a pattern.
@OP as another commenter replied, it’s to show it’s not an age thing.
It's required in some states to share the ages of everyone "reviewed" vs "chosen". It's basically to be transparent about age discrimination being a factor in layoff decisions. It should list the title, age, and location I believe.
Maybe someone’s trying to get the word out. If I were then I’d look for correlation in ages to see if it skews high.
Out of curiosity, how many rows are there of selected people?
Also, there might be a revision history you can view.
