Thread regarding USAA layoffs

What a joke!

USAA is by far the worst experience I have had in my professional career. I was recruited from another company that I had been with for 12 years, only to be laid off 1.5 years later at USAA. I had a very successful career prior to USAA, but this place is ridiculous. I did an excellent job while at USAA, but a new director decided to take credit for everything I had done since I got there. This new director lied his way into the job and never had any type of management experience prior, just one big con after another. I did notice that USAA pretends to align with regulatory compliance and let go of most of the seasoned risk professionals. The last I heard, USAA said they had overinvested in their employees. What a joke! USAA deserves every fine they get.

Your post of "Name the director or it didn't happen. We need to know who not to work for." is uncalled for. Unless you are a Compliance/Risk professional you have nothing to worry about. If you are, then you already know.

USAA is not a company to aspire to and has not been for an exceptionally long time! There was a time when a certain leaders tried to make the dream happen for customers, employees, and company but those days are long gone. USAA caused this problem, all by themselves and on their own. Opening the door for others to try and make it new and sparkly again is a pipe dream. Even in 2023 there were not any updated procedures that had been vetted through and tested by compliance and IT. Testing was there only to satisfy internal audit and Regulatory Compliance was a joke. If you are a long-term employee then you know it is not an outsider issue, but rather an internal foundational disaster.

USAA used to be amazing, both for members and employees. Then Robles replaced USAA executives with Wall Street executives. This started during the 2008 financial crisis so there were plenty of executives for Joe to choose from since they were all losing their jobs due to the financial crisis they created. Over the next 10 years, those execs brought in their friends, who in turn brought in their friends, and so on. Today it’s extremely rare to see anyone in an executive leadership role that doesn’t have a letter in their employee number. None of them understand what made USAA such an admired company for close to a decade, and they don’t want to. The sad reality is that the majority of these new “leaders” don’t have a military background, don’t understand military life, never worked for a privately held company, are simply here to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else, and only have one skillset… layoff, outsource, cut member benefits, reduce customer service, cut employee benefits, destroy the culture, and dismantle and sell assets. The place has become an unrecognizable Wells Fargo level sh-t hole. And the PeaCock is a selfish, unqualified, soulless, greedy, untalented, pisspoor excuse for a CEO, that doesn’t have the skillset or moral compass to turn everything around and make USAA not su-k anymore, not even if he wanted to, which he doesn’t.

Every director has their orders...it doesn't matter who you work for, no one here is your friend and they'll glady save themselves over you...then still be on the next round of fun...there's an agenda and it's running it course

Name the director or it didn't happen. We need to know who not to work for.

USAA is the worst of the worse. Couldn't agree more, and best of luck!
