I feel like I'm stuck in a loop

Every Sunday night I tell myself that this week I'll definitely start applying. I'll update my resume, browse listings, send out a few. Then the week happens with all the deadlines, meetings, fire drills. By Friday I'm running on empty. The weekend comes and I do nothing. Then Monday rolls around and I promise myself again. I feel like I'm stuck in a loop.

@B4 and @AP
Great advice..especially B4.

We can all relate, and take @B4's advice before you do get medically impacted like @AP described.

Like @B4 said..eventually it will become a pattern and you'll look forward to those emails coming in. Prioritize you!

Good Luck!

Carve out a couple of hours on Sunday for sending out applications.

Start a spreadsheet of where you applied, when, any contacts/interviews/results.
Keep this spreadsheet updated daily.

Make a nice early dinner every night for yourself, so you've finished by 7pm. Literally set an appointment on your phone/watch for 7pm daily to start your job hunt, and really get into it, undistracted, for 3 hours straight. Focus. This is FOR YOU, so invest the time and effort. Give yourself an hour or 2 afterward each night to wind down/relax before bed. Be diligent about sticking to this schedule. Don't view it as more hassle or "work" for yourself, look at it as you're investing into creating a new and better job/opportunities/LIFE for yourself!

If you do this every evening after dinner (and maybe a drink or two), you'll get into a rhythm, and look forward to seeing responses in your inbox, scheduling interviews, fielding job offers, and getting hired somewhere new! It will build momentum with positive results, but you have to put in the time and footwork to make it happen.

DO IT!

Your description is tragically accurate and reminiscent of my time there. I have thankfully moved on but can totally relate.
My advice would be to view starting a search the same way you would if you thought something was seriously wrong with you medically. You would prioritize dr.s appointments, tests, lab work etc. Then you would do what ever your Dr. prescribed to make you better.
This may sound simplistic but I have sat in a Dr.s office and gotten serious news..and my perspective on what was important changed in an instant. Treat this like a serious illness..take the steps necessary to improve your medical and mental well being. Life is far too short.

@OP Maybe take a sick day, call it 'mental health' and dedicate it to making a start? Nothing major, just a start and go from there.

Best of luck
