Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Un-American

Is MW the most un-American CEO in Chevron history or is he the most American with the way he's acting?

@vk

where an indian gets on a hiring board, they are never impartial

they only hire indians. it doesn’t even stop there. they only hire indians with the same native language besides hindi, same skin tone, and same caste. they are even racist against each other

remember all of this next time somebody tries to impress you with statistics on the number of indian leaders

@wj You only care about money and no care about the country that made Chevron successful? Have you no honor and patriotism? Did Reagan destroy any love of country?

@vz So what, exactly, is it you do that absolutely no one else in the whole wide world at any location cannot do? Unless you are in a hands-on in the field role that requires a physical presence, you can be replaced by a remote individual. That you happen to be sitting in America is not an entitlement to a job others could perform.

Most younger generations won't be able to retire because of people like MW and Vanguard. Pushing to layoff every American so where do we work once all office staff at every company is overseas? When does this stop and we hold CEOs accountable for their destruction of the Middle class?

OP
I don’t think MW is un American. He is leading a corporation and the goal is to maximize return to the shareholders. I believe one of the problems the ELT have is the 1st and 2nd level managers are mostly not good at managing people and financial resources. I watch managers in various positions consistently make bad decisions. If they operated their own companies they would go out of business. That’s a shame how we can be managed by people with very little organizational skills. Many need a staff of 20 people to get the productivity of 6 people accomplished. My managers micro manage so much that new ideas cannot move forward. It surprises me but after 20 years I am figuring it out. I feel bad for the new middle managers that are trying to improve the processes and productivity.

@e8
I wish I was an Indian American so I could get a job in the USA. American companies won’t hire white Americans anymore.

@tj Vanguard et al mutual funds are the backbone of many Americans retirement accounts, including many CVX employees and annuitants.

@ew ph--k Vanguard and all those companies. They are wrecking this country and anyone who boot licks them is part of the problem too!

@en This comes a major shock to some that CVX doesn’t owe anyone a job, it is a publicly traded for profit entity. MW does not own the company, it is mutual funds - Vanguard, Fidelity, and institutional investors including pension funds - they call the tune, not management who can and will be replaced if necessary.

@a2 - true! This is why learning and reading about history is important. These days, patriotism is for su-kers. Those in the upper rungs invoke patriotism—flag-hugging love of country and rile up the gullible. Means to an end where the end is loyalty to a bank/trust account. I’m sure, OP, your "values" would also be tested if you were in their position.
