Rehired after JE?

Has anyone who was eliminated earlier this year successfully secured an interview for a new role? I have applied for a few different positions for which I was a perfect fit, but the speed with which I received the "Thanks but no thanks" email felt automated. The first few times I assumed they'd already filled the role internally or had lost funding for the position. Now I'm wondering if there is an automatic filter to exclude previous employees. If so, I really don't want to waste time applying for anything else. Has anyone who was JE'd gotten rehired?

If you get rehired after a je, do you still get the cigna severance pay package, or do they stop paying?

@OP I plan to reapply….closer to when my severance is going to end, which is closer to the end of the year.

@cp Do you still get the full severance payout if you are rehired or does that stop?

I'm already making ~$26% less than the average for my job - I think I'd rather go manage a Wendy's than take another 26% less to keep working here.

I was laid off last year, and it took a couple months, but I was rehired. My old boss really helped me and reached out to all the managers to the positions I applied for. I think that helped. I was rehired at a 26% decrease though…. So that was upsetting but thankful to have a job now. See if your manager is willing to help you in reaching out.. Good luck.

Recruiters are notified when a new candidate applies for a role so they can quickly review it and try to avoid the black hole effect. There’s no automated system that is rejecting prior workers. It’s possible they already had a finalist for the role, or required the person to live in a certain area etc for the role, which is why they declined you quickly. But there are definitely people getting rehired after JE.

It is possible to get back in. I know of two who did and both JE’d again. It’s a sinking ship, don’t bother trying to get back in.

I did...but it was last year. I was job eliminated last year and was able to get back within a month or so, but that seems to be the exception. Keep applying for roles you are qualified for (at Cigna or elsewhere) Good luck!

I took the VRE. I will never work for them again. 20 years was more than enough.

The only roles I can apply for are the Encore positions because I was part of a Voluntary Retirement Package and it's slim pickings so far. Unfortunately, the company will not allow those in my position to apply for anything else. All the knowledge and experience that were ushered out the door is astounding! I wish you success in getting your foot in the door again if that's what you truly want.
