Cutting AirMI is admitting defeat

I'm on GT.. we're a supporting function, cost center, I get it, we're going to be targeted for cuts. But airmi makes the actual product, don't they?

No growth company divests from producing its producing its actual main product. No amount of 'modernization' is going to make up for lost capacity from manpower, as I see it.

@OP that's what's happening. They've brought in hundreds of temps lately. We saw the writing on the wall.

AirMI was massively overstuffed for the proposed surge in demand from DTC that never materialized. They should have just shed jobs slowly but kept hope demand would bounce back.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there was union pushes going on

Once they started producing film, not just airbags, in Asia it was over for domestic manufacturing. Air MI will open again next week, but it’s never going to be the same.
I give it a couple more years before all the development work, “innovation” in Nike speak, is done in Asia like everyone else. The shell that is left in the US will be marketing.
