Thread regarding PNC layoffs

As much as it stinks...

Just please lets all look out for each other, and do what we are told. It's awful but working in an office beats getting fired for non-compliance and then not having one to work in at all...

After all, it's what we all make of it.

They had 4 months to lay out guidelines and couldn’t even establish that. This is gonna be a wash

@d9 That's the thing, they gave no guidance to managers at all. What do we do for half days? What do we do for bad weather? What about the groups that have on call? What about the teams that have to do nightly changes until 2am? There's nothing out there aside from "work with your manager" which makes everyone else realize this doesn't matter at all.

I already know some folks are ready to let the on call phone ring if they have to come in 5 days no matter what. The bank wants work in the office? Then they can wait till people are in the office to fix what broke the night before.

It's such a poorly put together plan that was built by people that think work is only 9 to 5. This whole thing doesn't make any sense aside from getting people to leave. Layoffs are coming regardless...

@d9 the proper response is that they have to contact employee relations to request an accommodation.

@a2 it’s not that a manager is too busy; it’s that they have no guidance. No clear direction on what to do when someone needs to “work it out with your manager”.
Layer in the fear of being “that manager” vs your peers and being labeled as playing favorites, and it’s a mess.
I’m just telling my team that this is the CEO’s mandate and non-compliance comes with a price. Whether that price is high or low? Don’t know.

@a2 as much as I’d like to cheer on OP’s call for espirit d’corps and teamwork, you’re 100% correct. I’m a manager. I have NO guidance on what to tell my teammates who need to “work it out” with me. Out of sheer te---r of the inevitable screams of “that’s not fair” and “I have a situation that I need to accommodate”, I’m simply telling people to comply with the CEO. THATS THE BEST I GOT. I’d love to help, I want to understand, and I wish I could change it. You’re both right, but your view is reality.

There aren't even compliance rules in place. It's at the manager discretion. Just because Bill wants it doesn't mean anything when his management won't enforce it.

None of this matters when there's no clear rules in place aside from "please five days in office" that managers don't care to enforce because they're too busy anyways. It'll be here for three months at most.
