@a5
Was comm$2050/month coverage for yourself only or did it include dependents you were insuring?

In general, COBRA is shockingly expensive. There are other options. You can get a short-term health plan for 90 days and renew it. Talk to a healthcare broker. You don’t pay a healthcare broker, they get a commission from the health insurance company. Thrivent has healthcare brokers, and you can find them elsewhere too.

@a5 if you don’t have immediate need and think you might find something in 60 days, you can hold off enrolling. As long as you do it within that period, it’s retroactively in effect. You’d just have to pay back premiums of course.

The 60-Day Window: You have 60 days to elect COBRA after your coverage ends or you receive notice.
Backdated Coverage: If you choose to wait, you can still elect to activate coverage retroactively to the date you lost insurance.
Payment Requirement: Coverage does not technically take effect until you pay your premiums. Once you pay, the insurance is reinstated, and providers can submit claims for that "gap" period.
Medical Emergencies: If you have an emergency during the election period, you can sign up for COBRA and have the services covered, even if you did not have active insurance at that exact moment.

@OP you can hold out for 60 days to see if you can find a job if you don’t have immediate need. Double check but I used to process COBRA enrollments and what I found online is what I remember.
