If I get picked for layoff will I be on the books/expected to work for 2 more weeks after notification? If so I assume I can use my PTO to the bitter end until my last day.

Do teams sparq etc work during the 2 week period?
@as …I’ve been burning my PTO all year, as soon as I earn it I take it because we don’t get reimbursed for unused PTO. That’s what I heard or read somewhere. I also heard we get 2 weeks in the office from date of notification but I am having doubts about that. As you can tell I’m pretty certain I’m on the list. Guess it’s the 30th for me.
@ca stupid reply
@ca Multiple managers and laid off people explaining the process, and yet here you are. OGA or HR?
Do you still have basic access to Teams during those 2 weeks? Don't care for most, but there are 1 or 2 people I'd like to wish well and say farewells.
@a5 I logged out when I was told and made myself unavailable, if they needed anything, they should of thought of that before they rif'd me.
@OP When I was laid off I had the 15 minute call in the morning on a Thursday. I had computer access until the end of the day to apply for jobs which I did (we were then told the following week we were external now so no longer qualified for those job we applied for) and I also changed the phone numbers and email addresses around on the contact list they had us update for them (the nerve having us update that prior to layoff). Now I have a new better job so it all worked out as it will for all of you. God bless.
Mommy, will you read me the story of where I get laid off and told to just log out but that i would still be paid for the next 2 weeks and not expected to do anything?
If you are not in clinic you will still be an active employee with no work. You don't need to use PTO as you are not required to work, maybe handoff some meetings. You can use the time to apply internally and externally.
@OP you'll be told to delete all meetings and you have no delivery expectations for your 2 weeks. If you so choose you can use the 2 weeks to seek employment elsewhere in the Co. Don't burn your PTO. You'll basically be off.
No PTO allowed once the official notification emails were sent.
Lost the floating holiday.
Our state doesn’t require payout of PTO. They paid up to 40 hours.
Was expecting to be walked out after notification. They worked us right until the last hours of the last day.
.
Some states require FULL PAYOUT of ALL PTO no 40 hour limit.
and many of those states dictate when it is to be paid (last Day of work)
@OP Once you are notified you are not allowed to burn PTO. they will cash out up to 40 hours in one of your final checks. If you have more than 40 hours banked, start burning it down to 40 right away, like today.
Using 4/30 as an example, in general, you are notified Thursday and at that time told what your 2 week end date will be, and told you can log off. You generally keep some of your accesses for the remaining 2 weeks, but some may be disabled immediately.
In nearly all cases, you are not expected to work for any of the remaining 2 weeks.
An exception to this has been cases where the person getting cut is a sole knowledge/access holder, and are urgently requested to help setup accesses for/train their replacement. This has happened with nearly every scheduled round this year.
The operations/implementation leaders aren't being consulted on the cut lists, and then find out Wednesday/Thursday morning that someone "irreplaceable" is done that day.
Panic ensues. Sometimes the RIF is rescinded, more often the leader is told everyone is replaceable and to su-k it up and get it done.
If you are told to log off, my advice is to log fully out of Teams and Outlook before they realize that that need you to train some OGA "engineer" in 2 weeks to preform 10 different under/undocumented processes that take 18+ months to really understand.
As I understand it, you’re paid and technically employed for the last two weeks, but your access is cut off and you have no job responsibilities
