Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Ageism

I would be curious to hear from folks that feel like they aren’t being considered for spots due to age. I know I have two other bad marks against me, white and male. But I’d honestly like to hear some feedback. More me personally I keep getting told it’s competitive out there but then I think maybe they forget that emails go out with who got selected for positions.

I agree, silent ageism is vey much a thing at the farm. I am taking AI classes and keep up with my younger peers in energy and knowledge, but still get passed over for promotions. I will say, I am not intimidated or easily coerced by my leaders so they may pick up on that. Not sure, but I'm five yrs or less from retirement and don't give a flying flute lol!! Everyone on here would benefit from not giving a flying flute as well and just do what you can. Don't give these s#it h3ads any more of your time or energy!!

@bk Sorry but the more designations a person has in their signature line the more useless they are. State Farm is on toxic dump.

@bk CPCU and an MBA, one very extensive development program at the farm for those second line positions. Enough for you?

Do you need some tissue? No one is more of a pita than a lazy, mediocre, middle aged white man. I’m sorry that you were babied your entire life and told you were special, you’re not.

When was the last time you took ongoing training? How many designations do you have? What development programs have you participated in?

State Farm absolutely discriminates with ageism. White, male and over 45 you are not what State Farm seeks and they will find anything to get rid of you. So
Sorry. It is not right. The real question is are you going to let them get away with it or man up and fight the fight?

@a9 this is extremely true. There was one person 17 years software engineering experience and couldn't even write a simple line of code without pair programming. Ageism is real if you're incompetent and unwilling to put in effort without spoon feeding

It is alive and real at the farm. The id--ts should just change the retirement to age + yrs = magic number for full retirement. Think how many would go on and retire without waiting for the illusive exit package. Instead they age discriminate and try to force us out.
