Elevance rebadged several of us to UST and that too without severance. Now within a year we have been let go.
Several of us are US citizens and since we were rebadged, the UST layoffs are overly biased against US citizens. UST is a H1B first company and how is it legal to layoff a US citizen while employing 100s of H1Bs and several of them in the same role as mine?
Do we have any legal rights? Does Elevance have any responsibility and liability in this? Where can we complain about this? What protections do US citizens have?

Part of your responsibility and a colleague will be asked to do part of theirs. Now they have the knowledge of all of your responsibilities. It’s a tricky game they play.
Now I am asked to transfer part of my responsibilties to Carelon offshore. I cannot think of any reason to do so other than bribery. All these are covered under cost optimization. What a joke! American workers plus AI can do their jobs much better and cheaper. There should be additional corporate tax for transferring jobs overseas, before it is too late.

Leaders use big budgets to hire, but keep a portion of the hirees to work on stuff outside of Elevance. Essentially funding their “startup” idea with Elevance labor. H1-Bs can’t complain because they will be sent back. American corporations are subsidizing these scams. On the books it looks like savings, but the reality is that the USTs of the world are getting free labor to sell back something to Elevance as if they paid for the labor and ideas.
@zx - What do you mean by subsidizes?
Many are employed by Elevance, but work for their hiring manager on pet projects and “startups”. Elevance subsidizes leadership so there really is no gain to lower wages. It’s a scam.
Are these H1B workers under a cost-plus contract? I see so many of them just having coffee and chatting with one another instead of doing work. Who ensures they are actually producing something of value?

STOP just Stop supporting them. Make it as hard on them as they make it on us.

Carelon is UST, majority of the workers are hired or contractors. UST does a good job ensuring loyalty, which is why they penetrated our entire ecosystem.

UST is a non public and shady IT company, if I may add. An Indian IT company which for some strange reasons is a preferred vendor for Elevance. Our ceo and Rat is in lovefest with this company for reasons unknown.

Unfortunately, this was an entirely predictable outcome. I expect folks that were rebadged to Deloitte and Kyndryl will get similar treatment when their year is up.
@OP Contact your representative and senator, let them know your story. Right now is your best opportunity to be heard since Trump has drawn attention to issues around visa abuse. Post about it everywhere you can, corporate shaming works too sometimes.
US IT workers haven't had any rights since 1999 and before when the importing of labor for Y2K started. EH did the same thing to those that were rebadged to IBM also. I am so sorry this has happened to you and your colleagues. I have also experienced numerous job losses working in IT over the years due to outsourcing and offshoring. It su-ks!
