What's going on with mangers suddenly no longer providing any recognition even when you do extra work that's not even yours? My boss sent a "thumbs up" emoji on a Slack message last Thursday, and that's the closest I've gotten to a thank you since last year.

There is no more recognition site that is functional at least, so the best you are going to get for now is your boss saying thumbs up. I personally never cared about private recognition. Sure nice to get $100 here or there, but honestly it is more important to get public recognition. Job security is 80% visibility, 20% what you do in corporate America.

I guess the responses blasting the OP must've failed reading comprehension in school when he mentions the part about doing work that isn't even his and they just gloss right over that part to call him a crybaby. Practice saying "Please Sir, I want some more."

This a modern day problem. Too many people need to be “told” what a good job they do. Even if they don’t. Which is usually the case. Completing tasks that are part of your job function is what the pay is for. If you’d rather have an atta boy instead of the pay you receive. I’m sure the company would really appreciate that. Trophies for everyone!

For real, the company's CONSTANT focus on "opportunities for improvement" with absolutely no celebration of good success or above and beyond behaviors is astonishing. It's a culture thing. Verizon is fu---d and everyone knows it.

I do get a recognition email every two weeks, the next day it get deposited automatically into my bank account.
