Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Tracking your hours?

I heard a grapevine that citi is tracking the hours you are on your pc or you are offline/ away from your screen. Is there any truth to it? Can managers confirm?

Here is my theory- as an employee I have finished all my tasks and user some time for learning and I still have time on hand and asked my manager for additional work no new work is assigned so I am spending more time in the cafeteria for lunch or socializing, whose fault is that Manager or employee?

In my opinion , measure the value you are getting from an employee not how many hours worked vs sitting idle

@cv thank you, sir—whoever you are 🙂 This makes sense! My manager told the team in India that they’re being tracked and monitored. Micromanagement at its peak. Cutting costs and then treating cheap labour like slaves; Jane’s Project Bora Bora at its finest.

@OP yeah, but almost impossible to get data for individuals. data is aggregated and only visible for teams of 6+ workers. someone was complaining about being tracked as idle while on lengthy zoom calls, but that's not an issue. zoom usage is always considered active time, even though dta differentiates between zoom+other activity and zoom+idle.

Inactivity means nothing happening for 5+ minutes, and is split into inactive+unlocked and inactive+locked.

It's used to assess team application usage - including specific websites - and hours spent in active state.

DTA ("desktop analytics" - i.e. the agents that watch you) was implemented at Citi almost a decade ago. That doesn't include the monitoring and logging of pretty much everything your desktop generates through security agents.

@b5 have requested productivity data from HR before to support a PIP, and can confirm they dont have that data readily available

Its actually a tool to track time active in a software to see if its worth the money. Sometimes investment is made into something but employees dont use it so its a waste of money.

@a8 yeah but it is only reporting in aggregate (this team spends 40% of their time in Outlook, etc) - you have to special request employee-level data and you generally need a reason.

@b0 if they’re checking badges wipes, then they certainly aren’t doing anything about it

They have been doing it for years. Now it's being used for layoffs. Same with RTO, make sure you don't swipe and leave after 5mins

@ak agreed. I’m on stupid calls like 4 hours a day. I’m not sure if this is applicable in US or Canada. Read that it’s more prevalent in India/Phillipines. Exploit the slave labour there so Jane can get another 40 million bucks

The obvious flaw in this is that it doesn't take into consideration people who are on conference calls long enough that cause their Teams status to show "away" despite them actually being present on their PC. Typical Citi can't even get babysitting right.

Confirmed...DTA tool (Desktop Analytics) tracking which apps used, length of use, total time logged in...etc.
